In the following draft versions, I suggest that we use the following format, and that any deviation should be explained at the time of the post. If no explanation is given it would be assumed that the deviation was unintentional, and that future drafts would contain corrections.

  • Citations should be provided as often as appropriate, and references to Heidegger's own writings should provide, in addition to the source, the original page numbers, e.g. Martin Heidegger, Being and Time, trans. John Macquarrie and Edward Robinson. New York: Harper & Row, 1962, 21 (H.2).
  • Translations given by either the 1962 or 1996 versions are perfectly fine, but should be accompanied by a note saying which; secondary translations also should follow that example, and translations by wikipedia users should be seen as a last resport - the reasoning behind this is from Wikipedia:Translation.
  • The terminology regarding Dasein, Sein, etc., is still being discussed, for now (February, 2007) that discussion should remain separate from the drafting that goes on here, so as to minimize the topics we are focused on.
