WP:BURDEN[edit]

To the people restoring all the unsourced content here, please read WP:BURDEN. It is standard procedure here - if someone challenges unsourced material, it goes. I challenge it. Either rebuild with sources or leave it out. If there is any truth to the Baseball-ref bullpen article (where Wikipedia's banned users run amok after they give up here, by the way), then you should be able to find a proper source. Baseball-ref bullpen has no apparent standards on reliability and we shouldn't be lowering ourselves to the same (lack of) standards here. —Wknight94 (talk) 14:21, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What about it ISN'T accurate?
Just wondering, it's a proven fact they were the Mariners, Griffey Jr. hit his first pro HR with them. The records on that page are factual and accurate. I didn't make the page but everything said on there is fact, if it's wrong. Keep it up and let people fix it. Thing is....It's not....I know the Wiki rules and sourcing and such but....
How is someone writing in a newspaper different than someone at Baseball Reference.com better than the other? I see mistakes in books about baseball history and newspapers all the time from so called "experts". This article though it might not be by a sports writer is expertly written read it...Pick out any fact written and you'll see it's not wrong.
If it's not up, who's going to write it? Most minor league teams have
"This was a team based in Hooterville, USA"

This is a bit scattered but I'll try to make a useful response. You don't have to be a sportswriter or reliable source to write the article on Wikipedia. But you do have to find a reliable source from which to gather the content for the article. If you're worried about formatting or such, plenty of people - including myself - would be happy to help you. If you have some simple facts that are easy to prove, like your Griffey assertion, let someone know - WT:MLB perhaps - and someone will help find a proper source. —Wknight94 (talk) 14:39, 1 November 2008

  • Deleting content simply because of a personal grudge you have against the bullpen is a bit extreme don't you think Wknight? If you feel something is improperly sourced, then tag it for sourcing... and give people time to fix it.. don't just go deleting every article.. The guys at the bullpen have done lots of good research for articles that is worth something.. don't just go around deleting everything... It didnt take me that long to source the records.. if i had more time i could deal with the rest of the stuff too but I'm really busy these days.. The "policy" is to add a sourcing tag so people can fix the article before deleting information... you have written about your beef with bullpen many times and your snarky comments above about them only prove my point. Spanneraol (talk) 03:55, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure which policy you're reading. The one I cited in the heading has a quote from Jimbo that pretty firmly disagrees with you. And I don't have a beef with bullpen in the least. My beef is with people here trying to claim bullpen as a reliable source. I can go insert a bunch of random made-up stuff there to prove my point if you'd like. They'd never be able to stop me.
