Created line template[edit]

{{NJTransit-Bergen}}

I recently saw the German rail line templates at WP:TRAIL and decided to give it a shot for the Bergen line. Template is at Template:NJTransit-Bergen. Results are at the right. Please comment, give corrections or expand as needed. I'm currently thinking this would go on each station page for stations that are exclusively served by the Bergen line. Then we should have another template for the main line-exclusive stations, and stations that are served by both the main and bergen lines. Thoughts? --ChrisRuvolo (t) 12:47, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Made Template:NJTransit-Main and Template:NJTransit-Main-Bergen also. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 13:49, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Added to article. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 18:09, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to Cutoff Category[edit]

I see that my inclusion of this article in the Category:Railroad cutoffs has been reversed. I find this curious as Bergen County Cutoff redirects one to the Bergen County Line article. What should we do?WallyFromColumbia (talk) 21:07, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that no where else besides Wikipedia mirrors can I even find the term, I question the need for and validity of the redirect. This line, like the Pascack Valley Line and Northern Branch, was built with the backing of local interests to provide local freight and passenger service, not as a bypass. They connected with the Erie, which is why the were ultimately acquired by them. But the BCL wasn't built to shorten the Erie's route.oknazevad (talk) 02:14, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not necessarily diasagreeing with you. The Bergen County Cutoff redirect to the Bergen County Line article was created by BE2 on December 3, 2006, so maybe we should ask him. That aside, I'm not an expert on the Erie, but I do see the statement "Until the late 1950s, the main function of the Erie's Bergen County Cutoff was as a freight bypass of the at-grade Main Line through Passaic. Commuter service was relatively minor." I'm just pointing out what's in the article. If this statement is true, then I believe the categorization as a railroad cutoff is appropriate. However, if the statement is false (or cannot be verified), it should be removed. One or the other.WallyFromColumbia (talk) 19:41, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
