Parallels to the Bock Saga worth mentioning?[edit]

The whole kernel of the story, a more advanced civilisation hidden behind glaciers to the north -- somehow surrounded by the Ice Age but not affected by it, to be revealed when the glaciers retreat -- is exactly the same that Finland-Swedish eccentric Ior Bock recounted in his supposedly handed-down-through-the-family (though AFAICT personally made-up) "Bock Saga". In Bock's case, the guys in behind the glaciers were to become known to us as the Æsir (and also Bock's own ancestors, of course). Judging from the back-cover blurbs on various other Web pages as well as the plot synopsis in the article, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Turtledove has a similar(*) revelation in the next installment of the series. Just concidences, or is there a chance worth mentioning in the article that Turtledove is familiar with Bock's story?

(*): Similar in the sense of them being the Æsir, not Turtledove's personal ancestors! :-) --CRConrad (talk) 08:45, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
