Non-fiction novels?[edit]

The common definition of a novel encompasses certain fictional works, so "non-fictional novel" is a contradiction. What was it based on - non-fiction books or novels? --JamesAM (talk) 00:26, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That phrase, "non-fictional novel", also got my attention when reading the Romanian wiki. I also checked many sources[1][2][3][4][5][6], publishing houses and newspapers present it as a "roman non-ficțional". It seems that her novel is actually a realistic/factual series of articles, a sort of reportage that she wrote in contradiction to the "phantasmagorical" news related by the press. Nevertheless, the author of the novel, Tatiana Niculescu Bran, and the film director and co-author of the script, Cristian Mungiu, both admit that the film is very different from the book. Only the starting point is the same... and I haven't actually watched the film yet - yeah, nor have I read the book. I'll get back with more information if/when I get it. You're right, I'd also use non-fiction book. Căluşaru' (talk) 14:04, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Here's another interesting label: roman-reportaj = reportage-novel[7] 2A02:2F06:C201:F003:0:0:524E:8D4B (talk) 13:50, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
