Can someone with access to footnotes #1 and 2 please add |quote= params for the relevant material in those sources backing the assertions in the article, as I cannot view them. Simple, double-quoted quotations inside the refs would do, as well. There is a 1978 precursor article by Berthin-Maghit to the 1980 work cited as fn #1 which is available online from Persée at Le cinéma français sous Vichy. The landing page is facsimile typescript, but there is a full-text, searchable OCR'd text version (click the 2nd icon top left of the viewport). "Bifur" doesn't come up in a full text search, but it's always possible that the ocr messed up on one of the letters, so it might help to slog through the whole thing. Or maybe it doesn't appear in that version, and only in the 1980 version, so we're back to square one. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 02:27, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
