Controversy[edit]

Should we put the racism that Taylor has experienced in a controversy tab? Pop Crave on twitter picked it up. (23.123.210.20 (talk) 21:45, 10 July 2022 (UTC))[reply]

I do believe that the amount of reliable sources reporting on this issue could be sufficient for it to be added on the article; but we should wait until more media outlets report on the issue so that its addition to the article could be permanent and won't be subject to future disputes. EdrianJustine (talk) 21:55, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The story has been picked up by US Weekly, I think that should be sufficient but I'm not 100%. 64.42.157.21 (talk) 09:49, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it is racism, not saying your wrong but it's more in the bullying side, if it was racism then all housemates of color will be targeted — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.237.205 (talk) 00:43, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Then we could at least call it bullying and add it, but I agree lets wait until more media sources comment on it. (Aricmfergie (talk) 04:18, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The story has been picked up by US Weekly and Pop Crave, I think it's at least a notable controversy, also, it is pretty clearly micro-aggressive as they are calling her "scary" and saying she's gonna "show her true colors" when she has done nothing to warrant those assumptions. 64.42.157.21 (talk) 09:50, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I think it's starting to get a lot of articles, and there are several comments made by several housemates that are offensive towards Taylor, so maybe we might have to do it earlier than expected because several former housemates are already condemning the treatment of taylor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.237.205 (talk) 19:13, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It might be too early, but was wondering if we should add Kyle Capener’s comments on an alleged white alliance to target POC: Newsweek.com and many BB alums have spoken about it. Mmm1103 (talk) 17:42, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that Newsweek article and it looks reliable to me, simply confirming what people have viewed on the live feeds and observations they’ve made (including Janelle Pierzina). Bgsu98 (talk) 18:58, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paloma[edit]

Not the greatest sources on this yet, but we'll be able to confirm in a few hours that Paloma has likely left the house. Paloma Aguilar Is Missing From Live Feeds, Fans Suspect She Left the Game. and SHOCK EXIT? Big Brother fans in shock after Paloma Aguilar mysteriously VANISHES from live feeds amid ‘racism’ allegations. Zaathras (talk) 23:01, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lets wait until this evening, until its officially announced by production (Aricmfergie (talk) 23:41, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Colorisim[edit]

Azah, Season 23 HouseGuest, has spoken on the colorism in this season. I think we should incorporate this into the reception tab (Aricmfergie (talk) 23:39, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Azah is mentioned in the Controversy section, along with Tiffany and Xavier, who were all quoted in the given sources. Bgsu98 (talk) 23:49, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Paloma's Exit[edit]

Until we have some official clarification (from an interview, press release, etc.), we do not know that Paloma left of her own choice versus was pulled from the game. The wording on the announcement was very vague. Her departure should remain as "Exited" until we know differently. Bgsu98 (talk) 02:24, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just to throw some sources in here to help with future decision making:
These are mostly based off of the headline, the Entertainment Tonight source for example uses forceful language in the headline but more neutral language in the prose. I'll continue to update this list as more articles come out. TheDoctorWho (talk) 02:40, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was confirmed that Paloma walked and was not expelled on tonight’s episode. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.207.231.237 (talk) 06:49, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If Entertainment Weekly is calling it a “self-eviction”, I’m comfortable with classifying Paloma as having quit unless something comes to light in the future. Bgsu98 (talk) 18:13, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Traditionally, if a houseguest self-evicts, the current Head of Household is informed of the situation and must gather his or her fellow houseguests into the living room to share the news. That is exactly what happened in last night's episode and therefore Paloma is confirmed to have "walked" (that of course canceled the planned live eviction).

Edit request[edit]

Someone has put numbers in the boxes for Backstage Boss and Backstage within the voting table itself. Those are redundant as the footnotes are already in the place they've always been, underneath all the houseguests' main rows. Someone who has access please remove those. Greenday61892 (talk) 02:29, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Those are necessary in order to comply with guidelines for accessibility. Bgsu98 (talk) 02:31, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Could this be a decent alternative?

The idea is that a person using a screen-reader would not know that there is a note down at the bottom. The superscript should allow the note to be read as part of the cell. Bgsu98 (talk) 02:49, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn’t we just get rid of the Notes row then? If it’s just repeating the numbers we have to put in the individual boxes why does it need to be listed twice? E51539 (talk) 02:40, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some of those notes in the past do not apply to specific houseguests. I suppose we can look at it at the end of the season to see if it remains redundant. Bgsu98 (talk) 02:43, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If we are putting the notes within individual boxes as opposed to the Notes row for this season, then shouldn't it also be done with ALL other seasons? 9March2019 (talk) 10:32, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It will be; it just takes time to adjust all of those tables. I have a few earlier seasons finished and will continue working on them. Bgsu98 (talk) 10:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think with the current Note 3 we could put a superscript next to “Eviction Cancelled”. It would help with accessibility as well to show why the eviction was cancelled. E51539 (talk) 03:09, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure it's necessary, but I went ahead and put it next to Paloma's exit. Bgsu98 (talk) 03:11, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

HOH, nominations, and Veto winner[edit]

Episode 2[edit]

Can someone add to the plot of episode 2? I would but I have no way of watching the episode back to add to it 😭. It’s kinda weird how there is only one sentence as of now. SecondLooneyaccount (talk) 21:11, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That’s about all that happened… It was so boring! 😂😂😂 Bgsu98 (talk) 21:12, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to get around to expanding it in the next day or two if no one beats me to it. TheDoctorWho (talk) 22:44, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Episode 7[edit]

How we list Episode 7 (and possibly list Episode 8) will ultimately depend on a number of factors in how it's broken up in the episode table. The easiest, but most unlikely situation, would be if they held the HoH competition for Wednesday and the episode was mainly focused on the eviction, in which case the entire two-hour episode would fall under Week 2 and there would be no reason to split. If both the Eviction and the HoH are shown within the episode we'll have to discuss possible ways to represent that in the table. Either way the episodes are merged into one listing on the CBS schedule and not two separate so the current episode table should reflect that. TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:05, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last night's episode has been confirmed to be the 9th one this season, so it is correct to say Sunday's episode is the 7th and 8th (the former of which was supposed to air last Thursday). 9March2019 (talk) 11:50, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. That's why it's presented the way it is in the table. TheDoctorWho (talk) 17:51, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cancelled Eviction[edit]

So we originally had each cell as “No Voting” for the cancelled eviction but someone changed it to “Nominations Void.” Should we change it back to “No Voting” since there really was no voting? The Nominations Void is typically used in international seasons when nominations are cancelled, not when eviction votes are cancelled. E51539 (talk) 14:39, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted it for now, pending this discussion. No Voting vs. Nominations Void would depend on what happened. If a twist was unleashed in the game that void the nominations, then we'd put that, but the only thing that happened was the eviction being cancelled. It's similar to what happened in Big Brother 19 with the Halting Hex (this one was just cancelled by production rather than a twist). TheDoctorWho (talk) 17:28, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying the difference! 😃 Bgsu98 (talk) 19:54, 21 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to HouseGuests in the Infobox[edit]

Is there a serious issue with linking to the List of HouseGuests in the Infobox? This discussion debates that specific part of MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE, and it seems that there is a general consensus that in television and media franchise articles linking to sections within the article can be helpful, but to use discretion. Personally, I feel that it's helpful, traditionally in a season article we would put the individual names there, but it would be unusually long with 16 names. Because of that, we don't have to avoid using it, by linking to the section we avoid that problem. Just because the past BB seasons don't use it isn't a valid excuse, it wouldn't have even been a debate until four years ago when replaced the sidebar with the Infobox, and a nested Infobox was created, which could easily explain why it hasn't been thought of. It also wouldn't be difficult at all to go back and link the previous seasons. Thoughts? TheDoctorWho (talk) 19:41, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comments about Nicole[edit]

Brittany, Kyle, and Michael were talking about Nicole, and seemed to be displaying microaggressions about her being part of the LGBTQ+ community. Brittany said, in an effort to lie and get people also against Nicole, that she is “disgusted” about how Nicole is flirting with and checking Alyssa out. Michael fed into it as well, saying he is grossed out that when they girls exit the pool, Nicole is constantly checking them out. I know we added a section about the microaggressions toward Taylor, should we add something about this as well? Editor82641 (talk) 02:26, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Only if it’s discussed in reputable third-party media. Personal observations of what’s happening on the live feeds are inappropriate. Bgsu98 (talk) 02:33, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks! I assume that also excludes twitter? Editor82641 (talk) 03:06, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Correct! 😃 Bgsu98 (talk) 03:11, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Twitter can be a reliable source, if the person/account is verified and reliable (like if it were to come from Julie Chen or The Hollywood Reporter). Specifically, we want to avoid citing twitter accounts of blogs or spoilers (such as Hamster Watch or Spoiler King). Just have to use judgement. TheDoctorWho (talk) 04:33, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was specifically thinking of posts from viewers talking about what they’ve watched on the live feeds. Bgsu98 (talk) 04:41, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, as you stated, those would definitely be a no. TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:54, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Color scheme for Week 1[edit]

Hey, I just put a new scheme for the Week 1 Backstage twist. The old one was not very consistent with past seasons. I like the skyblue   for the Backstage houseguests since its the color that was used for the Camp Comeback twist in Big Brother 21, the most similar concept. I also changed the Backstage Boss color to gold   to differentiate it from the normal yellow thats used for people who just have safety. Let me know what you guys think. Jh132132 (talk) 16:24, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I also changed the color for the Camp Director in Big Brother 21 to gold from lightblue since that and the Backstage Boss twist are very similar. Jh132132 (talk) 16:28, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
They look good to me! 😃 Bgsu98 (talk) 23:32, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Table colors[edit]

Hey everyone! Just as we’re trying to make everything more accessible, I went through MOS:Color to see if we would need to change anything else. It says we should try to be colorblind-friendly and it provided a link to a website with a colorblind-friendly set of colors. I tried to stay as consistent as possible with the colors we use now while using the colorblind-friendly colors. Also, I think it might make sense for us to combine partner/team safety and individual safety in terms of their color. Since we use both the superscripts and colors in each cell, there’s no real need to differentiate what type of safety it is with different colors. Let me know what you guys think!

I might suggest using mint green for HOH and the olive for Backstage Boss. Just because the mint looks for appealing for such a common cell color. Jh132132 (talk) 18:37, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked for input regarding the accessibility of the original colors, because I do not want to have to change the colors on 24 tables unless it’s necessary. If it is determined to be necessary, the colors shown above look fine to me. Bgsu98 (talk) 21:07, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why that posted so weirdly, sorry! Anyways the hex codes for the colors are:

HoH: bbcc33 Nominated: 77aadd Backstage: 99ddff Backstage Boss: 44bb99 No Voting: dddddd Safety: eedd88 Evicted: ee6677 Walked: ffaabb Expelled: ee8866 E51539 (talk) 14:28, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think that looks great! I agree the mint looks better for the HoH cell. Plus, the Backstage Boss is now halfway in between safety and HoH, which is similar to what the twist actually was. If we do need to change the colors I think it looks great. E51539 (talk) 00:51, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jasmine HoH Win[edit]

There are speculations that Jasmine's Week 2 HoH Win was not justified. While she was climbing the wall, her foot momentarily slipped and it seemed like her foot actually touched the ground, which would have called for her elimination from the competition. This can be observed as some confetti on the ground had moved when her foot slipped. Could this qualify for controversies? 216.164.124.147 (talk) 06:48, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Only if you can find it reported in reliable media. I think she did too, but viewers talking on Twitter about what they maybe saw doesn’t qualify as a reliable source. Bgsu98 (talk) 15:42, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, this would qualify on grounds of "missed calls," as commonly seen in sports. However, there must be reliable sources reporting the issue. 9March2019 (talk) 14:18, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I had found a YouTube video as well as two articles discussing the events. I'm not sure how reputable they are, but the articles are from Hollywood News Daily and Monsters and Critics. I hope this helps! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.164.124.147 (talk) 16:00, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can use Wikipedia:RSP to help identify reliable sources. YouTube is generally a no. Bgsu98 (talk) 16:06, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unless the uploader of the video in question is affiliated with a reputable source (i.e. Big Brother production staff), YouTube does not meet Wikipedia:Reliable sources. 9March2019 (talk) 14:18, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Winner / Runner Up boxes[edit]

I’m not sure if this was discussed already but could we bold the winner and runner up boxes and list the day below them like we did in the past? I think it helps for consistency with the eviction boxes and showing that the finale happened the same day as the previous eviction. I’m happy to go back and do it, I just didn’t want to if it was breaking any guidelines or if there was a reason we stopped doing that. E51539 (talk) 00:06, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's redundant and unnecessary. Bgsu98 (Talk) 00:15, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
