Carlos in the 90's?[edit]

The page on Carlos the jackal does not mention any activities in the 90s, starting investigations then seems a bit incongruous. -- Medains 08:24, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Needs work[edit]

I started some cleanup on this article. Waugh has had a very colorful career and his accomplishments merit a better write-up than what's here. I am in the process of reading Hunting the Jackal now -- hopefully I can mine it for some more biographical information. Alcarillo 18:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just made a request that that someone at [[Wikipedia:{{WikiProject Military history|the WP Military History Project]] rate this article. At the very least, the stub rating is no longer valid. Alcarillo 23:53, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck[edit]

Wikipedia is going to need it trying to get information on one of the most revered retired special operators. The clandestine communities do not take kindly to amateur historians who cannot even write a simple article about a retired Sergeant Major. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.39.136.103 (talk) 21:37, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly didn't earn a "green beret" in 1954, as SFGs didn't wear them until years later & much to chagrin of Army brass. BubbleDine (talk) 21:53, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Hunting the Jackal be merged into Billy Waugh. The article on his book is a stub almost to the point of non-existence but the content of the book seems relevant to his biographical article. Sitush (talk) 12:21, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's been over two years with no discussion here. I see that the opposite situation exists at John Havan#Bibliography. I would be interested in comments on whether a merger is indicated here or a split indicated there. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 23:28, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Bong Son[edit]

In tis edit I have removed the wikilink to the Battle of Bong Son article. The article with that name is not about the June 18, 1965 action in which Billy Waugh was wounded. That article currently describes a battle which took place between January 28 and February 12, 1966. Also, I happened to notice that the info at http://www.thespecialforce.com/Camps/tdy_camps/bong_son_a331.htm regarding the June 18 battle differs from the account in the book Hunting the Jackal. Recent Interview with Billy Waugh[edit]

Good source of article information in a recent interview with Billy Waugh, shortly before his passing. https://recoil.tv/watch/playlist/gd-sidebar-player/jFdBtXY7wbAd-war-stories-with-billy-waugh--cia--special-forces-operator 47.198.242.3 (talk) 09:14, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
