Notes before beginning to edit this page[edit]

Please do not delete, change or modify these without consensus and debate

  • It would be advisable to have rankings for at least 7 years from the current year. So for instance, if the current year is 2016, it is advised to have rankings from popular magazines (popular magazines at this time include Outlook, India Today, The Week) for the years 2016 (if they have come out, they usually come out in mid-july), 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 (Only if we do not have the rankings for 2016) in order to see a trend and write this section properly.
  • Please use LDRs while referencing using in-line notation. This is recommended because if you are trying to add something to the wiki page and are in need of a reference, LDRs make it very easy to link to a reference whcih already exists, hence eliminating clutter in the main body of the text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Genghizkhan91 (talkcontribs) 19:52, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please add new research projects to a separate heading here on the talk page and reference them properly just as if you were writing them down in the main article. If they are found to be of merit, a consensus will decide whether they should be displayed prominently on the main page or not. It should be noted that this wiki page is not a place to flaunt research projects, merely point out those which have had serious impact. - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 21:15, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

List of missing clubs/centers:[edit]

I don't think there exist any sources for any of the clubs. We could maybe ask the administration to list them all on the website so we can source it? It would be a good addition to the website too. Darshit 20:33, 18 June 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darnir redhat (talkcontribs)

Hmm... Works well. We need to get the administration to accept that, though, and the way I see it happening, it's not going to work well, though. Let's see. Maybe a document explaining the clubs on scribd is enough? - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 20:37, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merger Proposal[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result was merge Pearl cultural festival into Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Hyderabad. -- Genghizkhan91 (talk) 17:59, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - Should we keep the Pearl (cultural festival) page or should we merge it into the BITS Hyderabad page? I think a merger is in order, seeing that a fest is hardly something to talk about. Because if this continues, we might have to make an ATMOS page, which might be troublesome. Thoughts? - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 16:58, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - I agree with you. We should probably merge the pages. Pearl, ATMOS should only be Sections in this page. You'll initiate a merge request?

Rankings[edit]

I'd like this section to be finished properly before it's put on the main page. The "x"s need to be filled out and every x which is replaced must have a citation next to it. It needs to be completed a priori. If a ranking for that particular year is not available, just add a "-" to that cell - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 18:19, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Doing...

Seeing that the campus is not an autonomous university, it is listed as BITS Pilani and the entire university is evaluated together.

Source 2012 2011 2010 2009 2008
Outlook 7[1] 8[1] x 6[2] x
India Today 5[1] 6[1] x 7[3][2] -
Mint x x x 5[2] x
The Week 7[citation needed] x x x x

I've converted this to LDRs. Take care that when this is shifted, the references are picked up as well, else it won't work on the article page. - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 19:08, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently, this template is the correct way to go about doing this. If anyone can get the rankings we need we'll be ready to roll. - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 15:17, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edited the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Link to "http://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/Hyderabad/index.aspx", old one doesnt seem to be working. Should the ATMOS page and external CMS link also be put up? -Pratyush

And turns out the Student Reviews link is showing page not found. -Pratyush

Yeah, that would be pretty good. Put up the CMS and ATMOS links. Remove the student references. And for god's sake, if you have an account here, learn to frikkin' sign. You use 4 tildes. Like this ~~~~ :P - Genghizkhan91 (talk) 16:59, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article reads like an advertisement[edit]

The way the article states that, for instance, BITS Hyderabad is "one of the premier technical and science institutes" and how its "campus is in a serene atmosphere amidst scenic terrain with small hillocks and urban forest" sounds like a description straight from the official website of the college.

The article needs to be re-written with more secondary sources and neutral wording.— Vaibhavafro💬 23:02, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a few improvements but still the article needs to be revamped to be considered neutral.— Vaibhavafro💬 04:13, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have never witnessed such a downgradation of an article. It does not mention if it offers, BE, ME and PhD courses. It does not mention that it is one the constituent campus of one of the oldest universities in India. It does not mention that it is the Institute of Eminence. Why you have removed all the essential information.Kirtimaansyal (talk) 06:19, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
