On hiatus[edit]

In this video, their bass player states that they are "not together" and "on hiatus for lack of a better word." Coupled with the fact that they have no been active on their facebook or twitter pages in a number of months, I think it's time we listed them as such. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNld1Au_b4o -Steve — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.71.15.89 (talk) 02:02, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

The page WAS informal, and probably written by the band themselves. Fixed my removing extensive influences section, and using proper English. 86.27.85.69 (talk) 21:16, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

REDO THIS ARTICLE OR DELETE IT![edit]

The article sounds like it was completely written by either a 5 year old family member of the band or someone who wants to suck them off. The article seems bias and missing facts while making up crap, rewrite the article or delete it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.15.184 (talk) 01:10, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you think this article is not up to scratch, maybe you could propose some changes to it? We would be happy to help you implement the changes if you haven't got the time or are not too good at writing. Peachypoh (talk) 04:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Prowler[edit]

Black Tide came out with a new single called Prowler (iTunes Link). I think it's a remake of the Iron Maiden song. Can someone get info on this? -- Chris Brack :P (talk) 17:48, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

it is a black tide covering an iron maiden song for a kerrang tribute album named "Maiden Heaven" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.15.184 (talk) 01:03, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA fail[edit]

the article needs expansion. the lead is too brief. there are no images. currently the article does not meet the GA criteria. thanks, for help please click my username. Sushant gupta (talk) 11:59, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

atleast provide link to the members of the band. it is a very essential and a very fundamental part. Sushant gupta (talk) 02:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There are none. I guess I will any way. Burningclean [speak]
make sure that the infobox is complete. Sushant gupta (talk) 03:01, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
at least try to get a screenshot.
add ref to- Every member of the band is currently under 20 years of age, including the 15 year old frontman. Black Tide has toured on Ozzfest, and with Avenged Sevenfold and All That Remains. They are also scheduled to play at the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, OH.
whether the article is of heavy metal band or some other. it must fulfill basic GA criteria. i do appreciate your efforts. address the above comments and do tell me. i will pass the article. Sushant gupta (talk) 03:03, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Like I mentioned earlier, they are a new band and a free use image is unavailable, therefore, meets the criteria. Burningclean [speak] 03:10, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
now wait a minute. you have no authority to say what is supposed to be cited or not. i don't find the citation for that statement anywhere else in the article. it is supposed to be given. if somebody wants to have a inline citation you can not tell him that it is not required. Sushant gupta (talk) 03:13, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Umm... Check out this: Wikipedia:Lead section#Citations That explains exacly what I was talking about. Burningclean [speak] 03:17, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
fine. you give me a link on my talk page. don't mention it in the article. if possible try to move this line somewhere in the major section. if you can't then tell me. thanks, Sushant gupta (talk) 03:24, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Second GA Review[edit]

Hi, I'm your GA reviewer. To Burningclean, I told you I'd review this article for you, didn't I?

Anyway, I believe the best way to do this is to go one step at a time through the good article criteria and attack each part one at a time.

I'm a little concerned that the article may need some copyediting. This line especially needs some work:

  • "Garcia and Nuñez recruited bassist Zachary Sandler and drummer Steven Spence, friends of theirs and both 14 and 15 years of age at the time. This completed the band's lineup and it was named Radio. Soon after its inception, Radio's name was changed to Black Tide, to show that the members had "grown up a bit".

Both sentences are phrased a little awkward. Also, some sentences in the article seem short and choppy, and thus are also awkward to read. This work is necessary to meet criterion 1.

I think you need to source a couple more statements in the article's body for criterion 2, such as the band signing to Atlantic Records for a year, the original two members recruiting the other two, and the Ozzfest second stage quote, just to name a few. Perhaps you can use some of the sources you already have multiple times if they contain this information; there's nothing wrong with doing that.

The article does not seem to cover much information, as to the specifications of Criterion 3 of the good article criteria. However, I do realize this is a fairly new band. Perhaps you can create a section about their musical style? With sources, of course. It really would improve the quality of the article.

Criteria 4 and 5 are already met. The article is neutral in its coverage and appears to be stable.

As for Criteria 6, I'm not going to force you to get a free image of the band; that's just being cruel to make you get one to get GA status. Now, will it help? Yes, it will. It could also help to put in a short sample of their music (see WP:NFC for instructions and requirements). Maybe you can put this together with a musical style section.

Yeah, there's some work that needs to be done here. But I think you can get it done in a week. Therefore, I've decided to put this nomination on hold for a week until the problems are resolved. You have the whole week. I do realize this is a lot to ask, so if you are actively working on it the whole week and need more time, just ask and I'll be happy to apply WP:IAR to this and extend the hold time. Whenever you're finished, or you have questions or comments, just contact me on my talk page, and I'll be happy to reply. Thanks. Red Phoenix (Talk) 03:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photographs[edit]

Hey, I just wanted you guys to know that I found a bunch of photographs from the Mayhem Festival on Flickr under a free liscense (here). If you'd like to use them I suggest you upload them to Wikimedia Commons, if you need any further help with it I'd be happy to help, just drop me a line on my talk page. vandalism[edit]

The article was heavily vandalised, i got rid of most of the stuff, but it could still do with a proof read. Did they really tour with the spicegirls? etc!--77.99.150.12 (talk) 00:54, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

i think they have some stuff thrash-style sorry for my bad english —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.132.226.1 (talk) 05:20, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source to prove it?--F-22 Raptor IV 18:06, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone put Metalcore? How is that?

GA Reassessment[edit]

Checking against GA criteria[edit]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
The lead does not fully summarise the article as per WP:LEAD.
There are a large number of stray sentences and short paragraphs which need to be consolidated.
Poorly written and badly organised throughout. They are well known partly due to their age. They are all under the age of 21, two members are still in high school, and the lead singer is still 17. is an example of this. Also a potentially dated statement.
Article needs a reception section, where reviews and criticism can be placed.
On December 6, 2009, while opening up for the All-American Rejects and Taking Back Sunday, the band played for the first time 3 new songs. Another example of very poor prose.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
One dead link, two unreliable sources and outstanding citation needed tag.
Blabbermouth appears to be an unreliable source: "BLABBERMOUTH.NET is run and operated independently of Roadrunner Records. The accuracy of the information contained herein is neither confirmed nor guaranteed by Roadrunner Records, and the views and opinions of authors expressed on these pages do not necessarily state or reflect those of Roadrunner Records or its employees."
A large number of uncited statements, viz: On July 26, 2010, Black Tide announced that it will go on tour supporting Bullet for my Valentine and Escape the Fate on their US tour in September–October 2010.,
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
With such a brief article it is hard to judge this.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
Reads a little like a fan site, needs to be more encyclopaedic in tone
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
A long way from good article status so I shall be delisting this. Please renominate at WP:GAN, when these issues have been addressed.

What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
