Date of first appearance

This scam was certainly around before the 2000s, so I have removed that statement. I first heard of it in the 1970s, but it may have been around even before then, so I have not stated a date. Centrepull (talk) 04:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Origins

The Black Currency Scam is believed to be based on centuries of old traditional Western African con called the "Red mercury" scam.

In India, Black money means money obtained illegally or for which tax has not been paid--George

George, that term is probably informally used to describe money that is obtained illegally anywhere and not just India. The meaning of Black Money in this article carries a different meaning Zragon 23:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

External Link Cleanup

Alucard, the website that was deleted is not related to Black Money Scam, and does not offer any value to the topic. Do not include non-related websites here for the purpose of advertising. If this is not the case, please state the reason. Zragon 23:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

The comment you made when removing the site was that it was membership only and commercial. It is neither, in my opinion. There is content which is available to non-members and its purpose is not to advertise a product, specifically, but to provide information. This is in line with the WP:EL guideline, which is why I reverted it. The issue of whether it is related to the page or not is a different one and one for which I am not qualified to judge. I reverted purely on the basis you gave in the edit notes. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 01:15, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
The site does not have direct relation or content related to the topic directly. Zragon 01:53, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
That is for this Talk page to decide. It would have been helpful if you had put the real reason for your removal in the editor comments, then maybe there would not have been this confusion. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 02:56, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I will apologise for that. Will note this in future. -- Zragon 03:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Terminology

Added the terminology used in these scams. These phrases are generally found in online advertisements by Southern African scammers -- Derek Smythe, aa419.org —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.242.202.172 (talk) 21:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
