Social effect

Is there any evidence of the destructive effect that this film had on society and on people's lives? The behavior and appearance of the delinquents was very widely imitated in the second half of the 1950s.Lestrade (talk) 02:18, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Lestrade

Related to this is a comment made in either the film, book or both that these kids were the result of their fathers having been absent during their formative years during WWII -- is there any evidence that this is true? Very interesting idea.--Jrm2007 (talk) 06:35, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Daddy-o

The claim "This film is also the source of the slang term 'Daddy-O'" is incorrect. It's used in films as far back as the '30s. Recommend removal of it and its subsequent sentence, or at least clarification. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/daddy-o O0drogue0o (talk) 06:24, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Shouldn't Richard Deacon be listed in cast?

Why isn't the ubiquitous character actor Richard Deacon--probably most familiar to younger audiences as TV star Alan Brady's brother-in-law Mel Cooley on The Dick Van Dyke Show--listed in the cast? He's got a tiny role--and I don't know his character's name--but he's in there too, in at least one scene.
