"bespoke" rocket[edit]

The "bespoke" rocket engine is a Falcon hybrid rocket, according to this article at allheadlinenews.com. But that might be false information, the article doesn't seem very professionally written, and also, it doesn't mention a third engine. And what does bespoke mean? - Ketchup Krew Heinz 57! 19:55, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bespoke should mean that the engine is created specifically for this purpose; her eit really implies that a generic engine has been modified to make it do things for the specific needs of the vehicle. I'll check that source out. Pedro :  Chat  11:08, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was probably just an attempt to sound posh. Bespoke is a word usually only heard around expensive pinstriped suits. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:65BC:98A8:F1A4:12FF (talk) 10:05, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Funding[edit]

We could use more about how much of the £10M funding they have actually secured. Rod57 (talk) 00:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a comment.[edit]

Had anyone else said this, I would have laughed. However, I absolutely believe in these guys.

They are shooting for 1,000MPH. I bet they hit at least 1,100MPH.

The car has a maximum design speed of 1,050 mph. They are aiming for 1,000 mph and no more. Weasley one (talk) 10:57, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are 3 other teams to date using rocket power to break the 1000 mph barrier and each of them including the bloodhound ssc could get their first. Healewis (talk) 01:36, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First test run in October 2017[edit]

On their website (http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/), Bloodhound SSC have announced that the first public test run will happen at Cornwall airport from 26-30 October, 2017, where it will make "its first runs anywhere in the world". On http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/blog/andy-green%E2%80%99s-diary-%E2%80%93-august-2017 they explain that the three runs will be at about 50 mph, 75 mph and 100 mph. This contradicts the schedule presented in the Wikipedia article.Renerpho (talk) 22:16, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Propulsion modified - this whole page needs to be updated[edit]

Since I was arguing with someone elsewhere about North American Eagle, and their chances of going supersonic before getting dead, I came here to check the facts on Bloodhound. The propulsion section refers to tests "next year" when they, and the resulting modifications, are all history. I added the details I was looking for from the Bloodhound website with a reference to their rocket motor page which provides the thrust figures I was looking for.

This is becoming a very current event and it's a shame that people talk about it on this page but don't update the article. If work allows I will do the research, but I doubt I am the best person to do that. Chann94501 (talk) 19:19, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just to confirm that I commented-out the infobox content, since as of November 2019 there was no rocket fitted, only apertures shown in BBC videos (not available on BBC iPlayer) with on-screen interviews, including the Nammo incumbent confirming generalities about thrust and drag. The project owner gave no indication of timeline, other than they hope to be back on the actual course in 12 to 18 months time, and that financial input from undetermined new sponsors was needed.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 11:56, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

encounter a shock wave[edit]

not so much encounter it as generating it. the shock wave is something that forms at the vehicle and travels along with it. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:65BC:98A8:F1A4:12FF (talk) 10:04, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is this even a thing anymore?[edit]

Seems like this project has been going on forever (12 years) and they are selling the car now. It's an aborted project surely? Sirhissofloxley (talk) 23:50, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Last news July 2022, and the vehicle is now a museum piece. It seems improbable they'll run again without a major new investor; I'd support changing all the phrasing in this article to past tense unless there's any further info.
That said, the website https://www.bloodhoundlsr.com/category/bloodhound-lsr-news/ is still up, someone must still be paying the bills? ElectronicsForDogs (talk) 13:47, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
