I've heard a distinction made between "blurbs" -- the publisher's spiel, usually a teaser or summary -- and "endorsements". 195.217.52.130 15:44, 18 January 2007 (UTC) Crotluck
The history section doesn't seem to adequately explain where the word "blurb" came from. It references how the quote "yes, this is a BLURB" showed up on the book's dust jacket, but was that the first use ever of that word? If so, maybe some explanation as to why he made up a nonsense word there? It almost makes it seem as if it was a word in usage before it was put on the dust jacket and he was merely referencing the word. Sorry I can only pose question and not answers, but this was just my impression when reading it.
