Untitled[edit]

Does anyone have any photographs or memories of Blyth station? I am building a scale model in N scale of the station from Turner Street up to Blyth Crossing (Renwick Road level crossing) based on 1958 operation.

I have photos from most published sources as well as many from unpublished sources, but always welcome copies from personal collections. Quality not important. I also have copies of original architects plans for the layout and most railway buildings.

Of particular interest would be photos taken inside the station building before or after closure, and information on special workings, e.g., the football specials in the 1950's involving Blyth Spartans and Newcastle United. Also, does anyone know the name of the signaller who was killed on the night of 25 April 1941 when Blyth Signal Box was destroyed by a German parachute mine?

I can be e-mailed on: ed.orwin@hotmail.co.uk. Many thanks in advance64.214.200.34 (talk) 06:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can't really help with most of that but the book I cited in the article names the signaller as "signalman Norfolk"; it also gives the time of the explosion as 10:30pm. I didn't add his name to the article as I didn't think it particularly important in the context of the article, but if you think otherwise then feel free to add it.
Just a note on a couple of your recent edits: the platform numbers and departure date of the last train are both clearly stated in the cited books, hence the reverts. Dbam Talk/Contributions 19:31, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
