Sanyo Stakes/ Park Stakes[edit]

I've been bold and linked these two races. They were run over the same course and distance at the same meeting and attracted the same sort of horses. When one stopped being run, the other started. Tigerboy1966  17:08, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Abernant Stakes: don't think it was ever seven furlongs. It was always a 6f event. Lester Piggott rode him in his first race in 1972 and Brian Procter rode him in the Middle Park Stakes that year. After that and until the end of 1976 Mercer rode him in all his starts except for the 1976 Lockinge when Starkey rode him (Victor Middlesex (talk) 05:32, 31 October 2014 (UTC))[reply]
Tigerboy, Boldboy's first race was at the Ascot Heath meeting, which was then held on the Saturday after Royal Ascot. Mercer did not ride him as he was recovering from the Plane crash he'd been involved in the previous Sunday. Piggott got the ride. So the racecourse needs to be changed to Ascot or Ascot Heath. Thanks for that. I forgot about the old Heath meeting- suppose I'm used to the recent arrangement with the five day royal meeting. When I read Ascot in June, I just assume it means Royal Ascot. I've no idea why I had the race at Epsom. Tigerboy1966  09:45, 13 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
