Name[edit]

I'll add some stuff here too - station is called Bolton-Upon-Dearne, as is the town, not sure if it was renamed Bolton-On-Dearne in 61 or not, I'm looking for evidence either way. Page should be renamed Bolton-Upon-Dearne with a redirect from Bolton-On-Dearne but I don't know how to do that. SacroHull (talk) 22:26, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@SacroHull: The name of the town has no bearing on it: our articles on railway stations take their names from the actual name of the station that is shown on signboards and in public timetables. This is often at variance with the spelling or punctuation used by the local community; the best thing for you to do is to find a WP:RS that states that the station itself was renamed from Bolton-on-Dearne to Bolton-upon-Dearne, including the date of the change. @Redrose64: Northern Rail (who operate the station) - https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/stations/BTD have it as Bolton-Upon-Dearne, the timetable linked on that page also shows it as Upon, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eOm4ZKl730 shows the current platform signs, also showing Upon. I can find pictures from 1983 showing it was On https://www.flickr.com/photos/cooperman5/16075203014/ but I don't think it's going to be easy to come by an exact date.
