Not yet convicted[edit]

As per WP:BLP, I've edited the statement where this person was said to have been convicted and was "proved" to have stolen billions of pesos in 2014. In 2014, the Ombudsman indicted Revilla, which caused his detention until today. Indictments are the first step in a legal case, which results either in an acquittal or conviction. I shall be keeping an eye on this article to see if someone insists on saying that this guys has been convicted when he definitely hasn't, yet. –HTD 01:25, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Repeat edits of 'thief'?[edit]

Hey I don't like the guy either but can we not vandalize his page by calling him 'thief' over and over? Great r/philippines upvote fodder, but this is Wikipedia, not ED. Maybe tag him as an accused thief but until the courts decide to indict him over it it isn't an absolute fact yet. --103.231.241.40 (talk) 06:38, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Message to those who vandalized this page[edit]

I saw a post on Facebook on how the Wikipedia article on Bong Revilla was edited slanderously. As a concerned Wikipedia user and editor, I opened the page and its edit history and I was appalled with what I saw.

I know that those who did these are Filipino Wikipedia users who are dismayed with the recently concluded 2019 midterm elections, dismayed that a plunderer like Bong Revilla made a place in the top 12. I, too, am a Filipino and a registered voter who is also very much disappointed with this, knowing how corrupt he is. I hate him as much as most thinking, concerned Filipinos do

BUT PLEASE, do understand that this page is that of an ENCYCLOPEDIA, not a place for you to make rants or to slander people. You can resort to Facebook, Twitter, and whatnot to show your anger and dismay, but please not in Wikipedia. Please respect the fact that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is not open to opinionated, and worse slanderous, information/statements.

I would like to add that before I wrote this message, I edited this article and changed the part on his birthname: from "Jose Marie Borja Viceral" to "Jose Marie Mortel Bautista." I am very much shocked to see his birthname switched with Vice Ganda's real name / birthname. This is pure vandalism and must be stopped. I hope Vice Ganda did not see this article before I edited it. It would have been the spark of a bigger issue.

Please, I beg you, fellow Wikipedia users, DO NOT VANDALIZE any articles in this website. This is an encyclopedia, not a plaything nor a freedom wall. This is a repository for facts and verified information, not opinions, rants, and such.

Thank you. Nairb.Idi9 (talk) 11:41, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name[edit]

Different sources report different names: GMA says "Jose Maria Bautista", Rappler spells his second name as "Marie", while the Philippine Daily Inquirer "Mari". None of the aforementioned sources indicate the middle name "Mortel", though this article reports it as his mother's surname thus it can be assumed, but it's better if we can find a source that explicitly supports it. None of the aforementioned sources indicate the suffix "Jr." either, and MOS:JR requires it to be "well-attested in reliable sources" to include it in a biographical article. Please note that his father was simply "Jose" not Jose Maria/Marie/Mari.

I opted to use "Jose Mari Bautista" because (1) the Philippine Daily Inquirer is a reliable source, and (2) as a film producer, he has been credited as Jose Mari Bautista.
