Diana Gonzales[edit]

Why no mention of this case? No explanation of why charges weren't initially filled against Armando Perez. Seems relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.82.126.103 (talk) 04:11, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notablity[edit]

Looking at this person's notability, where is the non-local coverage ? LGA talkedits 01:58, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Here, for one example: a full length article about her in the New York Times (and BTW it was already in the article when you asked this question). Not many local politicians have been the subject of significant coverage in the New York Times. I suggest you delete the "notability" tag. I almost deleted it myself.--MelanieN (talk) 01:24, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I did see that and as a WP:PRIMARYNEWS story from the time of her election and not a WP:SECONDARY source, it does not speak to her notability. LGA talkedits 01:47, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
From your link: Again, "Primary" is not another way to spell "bad". Just because most newspaper articles are primary sources does not mean that these articles are not reliable and often highly desirable independent sources. IMO you've got to be awfully picky to reject a full length article in the New York Times. Under that standard, is ANY politician notable? --MelanieN (talk) 02:14, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am not saying that the NYT is bad, just that in that case it was just a news story and does not attest to notability. Yes I would question if any local politician is notable, they need to be of a state and commonwealth/federal level. LGA talkedits 02:26, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Under the standard where a NYT news article doesn't count, how is ANY politician notable - local, state or national? What makes a congressmember or a governor or a prime minister notable, when all their notability is based in news stories? I think this is an extreme and unsustainable interpretation of notability. --MelanieN (talk) 02:57, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, you launched this discussion by saying "where in the non-local coverage"? I answered your question and showed you the non-local coverage. But then you changed the subject, to the point where non-local coverage doesn't count either - even the NYT doesn't count. I'm sorry but I just don't accept this approach; this is not based on the link you gave to support your position, or on any Wikipedia policy or guideline that I can see. --MelanieN (talk) 03:02, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
