Scheiße

Why is the track "Scheiße" not included on the list of confirmed tracks from the album? Gaga confirmed that this track will be on Born This Way a few days earlier the Thierry Muggler fashion show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.146.85.134 (talk) 21:16, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Moved from incubator

Has a consensus been reached that this can be moved to the mainspace? I see no evidence of a discussion. - eo (talk) 20:56, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Background

I shall not bother editing this page as of the current moment for it is highly likely that it shall be deleted. If anything is to go in the "background" section, I believe it should be transferred from Gaga's current Wiki page. Too much fancruft a la momenta. Stephenjamesx (talk) 23:38, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Chronology

Currently the chronology on this page goes:

  • The Fame (previous album)
  • Born This Way (this album)

The chronology on The Fame's page goes:

  • The Fame (this album)
  • The Fame Monster (next album)

The Fame article includes The Fame Monster in the chronology. I believe that should be the case on this article.

The Fame is GA article... shouldn't we be following an example of such calibre? I know that there's so much malarkey over The Fame Monster not being a "true" album, but it was her second major release and weighs VERY heavily on her success as an artist.

The first single hasn't even been released or even titled, there is no track listing, and there are only 11 references on here. This should be moved back to the incubator. --Cprice1000talk2me 03:54, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok, in all seriouslness we need to achieve a consensus here regarding what to do with this one, to move it back or keep it now. — Legolas (talk2me) 08:55, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Devil's advocate question — if this is going back to bake in the oven longer, at what point will it be ok for the mainspace? e.g. how many sources will be considered enough? I'm asking because this particular artist, with this particular release, will reach a fucking fever pitch leading up to the release date. I expect there to be a ton of hype and (reliable) press coverage way before it sees the light of day, and I don't think it's going too far out on a limb to guess that this album will be notable enough for mainspace-inclusion well before its street date. I'm certainly one to slam the brakes down on 99.99999% of these pre-emptive pop-music jumping-the-gun pre-release articles, but in this particular scenario we do have a somewhat decent-sized article already with more sources than many already-released album articles have. I'm not saying it has to stay in the mainspace, but are there any thoughts on just maintaining it here and building it up, keeping a close eye on it? - eo (talk) 14:03, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
That we are already doing Eric. Point is, she bloody announced the release date!!! I hate taht its still 5 months away and the cumbersome edits are only gonna increase. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:45, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
And you know what? She's been through with the album since around October. :( But anyway, I'm not sure about this page anymore. I think it is still technically not notable without a track listing. WP:NALBUM But maybe all the information in the article sustains it, now that we have a release date. --Cprice1000talk2me 15:32, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I fail to see how Gaga herself, including her twitter and youtube confirm that it is a track, yet it's not reliable. Who is more reliable for a Gaga album than Gaga? If there was an interview of her saying it was a track it would be fine, but because she typed it, it's not reliable? That's very confusing. Anyway, if you need a source, all I had to do was google search the news for "Scheiße gaga" and there are quite a few. Here are the results82.33.108.63 (talk) 15:19, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
She never said that the track's name is Scheibe, and neither does any reliable source. — Legolas (talk2me) 16:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Then at least mention that she released a remix of a track for the Thierry Mugler fashion show? Surely it contributes something to the release and promotion of Born This Way, and should thus be noted? 82.33.108.63 (talk) 22:23, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

"The track used for the remix is from Gaga’s new album Born This Way, due out in May. " - A quote from the link to Gaga Daily above. [ http://gagadaily.com/2011/01/listen-lady-gaga-remixes-born-this-way-track/ ] . Surely you can't get anymore information than this! --Tom54430 (talk) 00:32, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

And anouther quote "Update: The official title of the remixed song is “Scheiße.” The remix does not include the chorus, but the energy of the track is similar to the actual album version." Shows that its slightly different to the album version, but there will be a version on the album. Gaga daily is reliable. Its one of Gaga's own pages - there are references to ladygaga.com, why can gagadaily not be a refernce?--Tom54430 (talk) 00:32, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Of course the release of the remix can be mentioned, but dont call it Scheibe untill and unless Gaga or lable or any third party reliable source confirms it. Gagadaily is a unreliable source as stated above also, because it is a fan site. It will never be accepted. So I request all to stop citing that one as a source. If you are unable to find third party reliable sources, then I suggest wait. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:57, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Legolas, you said it. "...but dont call it Scheibe untill and unless Gaga or...". Lady Gaga has confirmed in her personal Twitter the name of the song. Lady Gaga herself. Isn't that enough? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.230.178.89 (talk) 00:28, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Please point me to the twitter or the reliable source where Gaga exclusively says, "the song's name is Scheibe." I will only accept then. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:54, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
I cannot point you to where Gaga explicitly states it is called Scheisse. But it has been referred to as Scheisse by both Gagadaily and Perezhilton, places Gaga turned to when Mugler's site failed during the premiere. (See tweet: http://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/28149245013917696) Additionally, Gaga has a history of posting "cryptic" tweets referencing song titles. Some of those have come about as fact (Born This Way) some are still rumored (Hooker On A Church Corner), but I think her previous tweet using the word "Scheisse" in addition to two sources Gagadaily/Perezhilton that have verified communication with Gaga all point to Scheisse as the confirmed track title. Colchester (talk) 05:33, 28 January 2011 (UTC)colchester
Sorry, Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia, where cryptic messages and original research are accepted. Either she states it, or its not added. Simple. — Legolas (talk2me) 05:44, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm counting on a moment with you." http://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/25533762017 And StephenHill works, if I'm not mistaken, as an exec on Gaga's label. ----colchester

No she didn't. — Legolas (talk2me) 13:13, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
I don't think she necessarily tweeted to confirm them (which Wikipedia doesn't see as proof anyway), however there are several reliable articles and such that conform the other two tracks. In addition, she may not have explicitly stated that Scheibbe and Edge of Glory are on BTW, but she's made it abundantly clear that they are on the record here is a source, therefore they should be added. http://popdash.com/news/3552/new-lady-gaga-track-edge-of-glory-praised Jpagan09 (talk) 20:29, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Certainly with "Edge of Glory" it could be added. "Never use self-published sources—including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and tweets—as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject", is found in Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Reliable_sources. If still you dispute that, "Self-published material may be acceptable when produced by an established expert on the topic of the article whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications" from Wikipedia:RS, and if you are still not convinced the most important "Exceptions can naturally be made using common sense". Gaga posted from twitter.com "I can't believe Edge of Glory was trending, sneakymonsters!" This naturally implies Edge of Glory is a track, and not even an implication which has a much of a chance of being wrong, using common sense, which Wikipedia does allow, it should be fine to add "Edge of Glory" to the confirmed tracks. That is unless you think Gaga is talking about something completely different, and it's just a coincidence that a track called "Edge of Glory" was talked about by an insider prior to the tweet. I now agree with "Scheiße" not being listed, as Gaga never talked about a track with that name, but she has with "Edge of Glory". ɧαεςαתɖɾσϻᴇ 17:25, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
"I can't believe Edge of Glory was trending, sneakymonsters!" says nothing about a song. Yves (talk) 17:28, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Gaga does explicitly state that "Scheisse" will be on Born This Way. Here's her tweet: http://twitter.com/ladygaga/status/28149245013917696 Colchester (talk) 05:28, 28 January 2011 (UTC)colchester
But she didn't explicitly say it was Scheibe. Even if she did, Wikipedia does not consider Twitter to be a reliable source. Here is a link to a source that states everything from the title of the track to the fact that it's on Born This Way. Therefore, it should be added to the confirmed tracks. http://en.terra.com/music/news/lady_gagas_new_scheie_remix_is_here/oci45341 If this isn't acceptable, here's another: http://entertainment.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978956210.

No, she didn't: the name wasn't even mentioned. Besides, the wording is ambiguous: "my remix of music from Born This Way album" doesn't mean the track is necessarily on the album, but could mean it is a remix of a track. Yves (talk) 01:08, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Scheiße

“Scheiße” needs to be added to the article as in an article at Gagadaily.com (official) it states "Lady Gaga has just premiered the soundtrack she created for the Thierry Mugler menswear show, which took place in Paris on Wednesday. The track used for the remix is from Gaga’s new album Born This Way, due out in May. Take a listen after the jump! Update: The official title of the remixed song is “Scheiße.” The remix does not include the chorus, but the energy of the track is similar to the actual album version. “Scheiße” is incuded on Lady Gaga’s upcoming album Born This Way, which hits stores on May 23rd. Judas

She told Ryan Seacrest that Judas is the second single. http://gagadaily.com/2011/02/lady-gaga-calls-into-ryan-seacrest-show/ i know thisis gagadaily, but it shows the interview and she says it herself —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.153.115.183 (talk) 16:04, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

I found the actual article and interview with Gaga. http://ryanseacrest.com/2011/02/15/lady-gaga-whitney-houston-was-my-vocal-idol-growing-up-audio/ Can someone please use this to cite Judas as the next single? Gaga herself has confirmed it! Jpagan09 (talk) 18:27, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I heard the interview myself and read the article. "Judas" is definately the second single and will come out "a couple of weeks before the album", meaning you can also temporarily put the release date as May 2011. Please keep this page up to date because this is the stage where Gaga is revealing a lot more about the album, so whatever information is already at hand should be included.

Done -- I used the album cover from Amazon.com, resized it down to 40% of the original size, then uploaded it with all the standard disclaimers. There is a different image for the single compared to the album of the same name, though. I uploaded the album picture. If you'd like any further help, contact me on my user talk page. You might instead want to put a {{help me}} template up on your own user talk, or put the {{edit semi-protected}} template back up on this page and either way someone will be along to help you. :) Banaticus (talk) 23:51, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Edit request from Tylerraustin, 20 February 2011

{{edit semi-protected}} On target.com, they allow people to pre-order the album Born This Way. They have a picture with it as well. I'm pretty sure that is the album cover for the album.

Tylerraustin (talk) 05:28, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Done I've readded File:Born This Way cover.png to the infobox. It checks out as the cover art—or the image that is presented in the place where cover art goes—at both Target and Amazon. I will note that AllMusic does not show a cover image. However, unless an argument can be put forward why the image being used by two major retailers is not official, it's in the article. —C.Fred (talk) 05:39, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Second or Third studio album?

I don't get it?? She has said everywhere that Born this Way is her third studio album, yet we have already established TFM as an EP. Thoughts? --Cprice1000talk2me 01:24, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Take it to The Fame Monster page, and seriously, we have had enough of this discussion. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:18, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
if the lady herself calls it her third, then you can't get a more reliable source than that. Mister sparky (talk) 14:18, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

This is kind of like the debate that was going on with Christina Aguilera. Although she and the media called Bionic (Christina Aguilera album) her fourth album, it is acutally her sixth studio album as her Christmas album and Spanish language album should be counted as such, even though the artist states differently. Facts are better. Candyo32 - Merry CHRISTmas :) 04:09, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

So, what are you saying? --Cprice1000talk2me 13:49, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

That TFM is an EP and consequently, BTW is her second studio album. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:47, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Not according to GaGa herself. --Cprice1000talk2me 14:49, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Which is what Candy spoke about above boo, the horse's mouth is not always teh most reliable source unless multiple reliable sources note BTW as her third studio album. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:59, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

The Fame Monster is technically Gaga's second studio album, but it's classed as an EP due to length. I changed the lead to call this her "second full-length studio album", so hopefully the debate should die down a little now. –Chase (talk / contribs) 00:10, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Let's compromise with this, Born This Way is GaGa's second full length studio album and(third over all). Hopefully that could simplified the wording. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MichaelB722 (talkcontribs) 07:26, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

It's lovely how legolas used to argue like crazy on the fame monster page that it could not be her second album because it was an ep and now that pretty much everyone recognises the fact that it is her second album and Born This Way her third he's hanging onto some gibberish about studio albums and proper album and eps. So now not even Gaga can tell how important her albums are because she's not a reliable source (lmao) just lovely. 189.153.50.163 (talk) 18:38, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

The new one I uploaded is clearly linked to on her website to pre-order the album. Why was it removed? I'm sure Lady Gaga and Target's lying and you know more than them...

Please read their small print. Nothing is certain at this point in time. If they're right so they're right... we'll find out when Gaga reveals it. Wikipedia is about verifiability over truth. Stephenjamesx (talk) 21:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

That doesn't make much sense when she directly posted the link ,but, ok: http://i53.tinypic.com/1zv3kfs.jpg NecroticallyDelicious (talk) 21:17, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

I can barely see that. Does she specifically say: "THIS IS MY ALBUM COVER FOR BORN THIS WAY" ? If not, then how can we be certain? We need verifiability. Thank you. Stephenjamesx (talk) 21:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I now support that that's the official cover. Target will always place "Not Final Art" at the bottom if it is unofficial. --ĈÞЯİŒ 1ооо 21:36, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

We have no real source saying so. Amazon also has the same photo, in a different size. nding·start 03:01, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Do you honestly think she's ever going to post that message, Stephenjamesx (did she for The Fame)? The standard is verifiability. We have two reputable businesses who both post the "back of a jean jacket" image as the album image (as opposed to the image for the "single" release). One of those reputable businesses is direct-linked from the artist website. It looks like a duck. It may turn out to be something else, but at this point in time there is no verifiable source which states that the "back of a jean jacket" image isn't the album cover. Banaticus (talk) 11:46, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

album cover...

what the hell, thats not the album cover, it hasnt been revealed, that pic was just used to promote, it has never been released as a album cover, and gagas hasnt even confirmed this, that pictures should be removed, its not the album cover, who even agreed to this?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.154.111.19 (talk) 18:44, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Edit request for Third studio album not Second studio album.

Are there any reliable sources that refer to Born This Way as Gaga's second studio album? The naive research method of googling "born this way" "second studio album" turns up mostly either discussion forums or places quoting Wikipedia, but did produce articles from iVillage and Focus on the Family's Plugged In, the first of which looks like it might be an RS, though the second looks a bit dubious. On the other hand, Billboard's Chartbeat, which I think is probably an RS, calls it her third studio album, as do the NY Post and the NY Daily News, which are established newspapers, albeit tabloids.VoluntarySlave (talk) 04:02, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

You are right, this is actually her third studio album, here some sources including 2 from Billboard:

Not all of these are reliable sources, but with the two Billboard ones, the Australian Daily Telegraph, and the NY Post and NY Daily News sources I posted, I think it's clear that there is some weight of reliable sources in favor of the "third studio album" description. I don't see any comparable sources calling it "second studio album" or just "second album," although of course it's possible that they exist and I've just not found them.VoluntarySlave (talk) 21:24, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

OK, there are some sources which call it her "second album," too, from MTV, the BBC and the NME. I'm sort of inclined to say the preponderance of sources is towards the "third studio album" description, but it's not entirely clear-cut.VoluntarySlave (talk) 21:33, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, there are some sources that call it second album but there are much more that call it third studio album, found more sources, in them, 2 news sites and 1 TV channel and a radio station:
