BORN THIS WAY - SALES (UPDATES)

Please, update the data on sales of Born This Way! According to renowned and famous Billboard magazine, Gaga had sold until October 2011 about eight million copies of the disc and not six, as is presented in the article!

Quote: When the album was released in May, 1.1 million copies sold in the first week, partly aided by a dramatic discount from Amazon, which sold it for 99 cents. But it was an industry-shattering moment because an extraordinary 60 percent of sales in the first week were digital downloads. Altogether, it outsold the next 42 albums on the Billboard chart combined. As of October, worldwide sales had surpassed 8 million copies.

Added. I've been going through all this album's certifications for the past few weeks, checking if anything had been updated. Obviously, since the Gold cert hadn't been included in the first place, I missed the Platinum cert altogether. Time to start searching everything all over again, I reckin' =) Homeostasis07 (talk) 02:46, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Background and development

Is there any info about this? It seems like a lot of what's in this section pertains to the recording itself, not really the development beforehand. DAP388 (talk) 22:11, 15 July 2011

Yoü and I as fourth single?

You & I was confirmed as the fourth single by Lady Gaga on 27th July 2011. She has also confirmed that she has just finished shooting the music video for the song. The video was shot in Nebraska. Gaga will be performing her fourth single on ABC's 'The View' on August 1st 2011.

– The song and album by Lady Gaga are undoubtedly the two most relevant and sought-after "Born This Way" topics, make no mistake. However, I don't think one of them trumps the other as a primary topic. The song article received 40% as many views in the last 90 days as the album article (see: [1], [2]), despite the album currently being the primary topic. (An argument could even be made for the song having more long-term significance, as it was and will continue to be played in its entirety on radio stations worldwide, unlike the album. But I digress.) WP:2DAB says, "If an ambiguous term has no primary topic, then that term needs to lead to a disambiguation page. In other words, where no topic is primary, the disambiguation page is placed at the base name." Similar disambiguation is currently in place at Like a Prayer. –Chase (talk / contribs) 04:47, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Genre

Hi, I think we should add the genre Pop rock for this album. Born This Way has a lot of songs with guitar-based, for exemple "Electric Chapel" and "Heavy Metal Lover". What do you think? PS: many articles lists it as a pop/rock album.Raulkul (talk) 04:39, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Have you found any source for this? —Indian:BIO [ ChitChat ] 05:48, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
I've found many sources, i will list them here and u choose. I think Metacritc is a great one @IndianBio:![1][2][3][4][5][6][7]Raulkul (talk) 19:43, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

References

@Raulkul: None of these sources (bar Tailgate365 and Suavv, which do not appear to be reliable) refer to this as a pop rock album. Some of the sources mention 1-2 songs being pop rock, but we need sources that describe the project as a whole. As for Metacritic, prose that discusses musical style is preferred to arbitrary genre listings per numerous discussions pertaining specifically to Allmusic's genre sidebar at WP:RSN. –Chase (talk / contribs) 22:44, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Worldwide sales of Born This Way (album)

I've noticed that at the end of the 'Commercial performance' part it is stated "As of September 2012, sales of the album were announced to have reached 6 million copies." However, there is an official Billboard article which states that the worldwide sales of the album had surpassed 8 million copies as of October 2011. Can this information be corrected in the Wikipedia article?
