Some comments[edit]

The contempory sources all agree the engines were 14Krdx but give different values of x (d, e,or i). Rather than labour this rather detailed point, I dropped x.

There is a minor conflict between the range figures in the text and in specs. I've left them as the contemorary reports have them; the difference are probably due to different cruisie throttle setting, altitude etc. There is a hint in Howson that by 1936 K14N engines were installed but he gives no source. Maybe one will turn up but I've ignored this for now. There was also a note about a fin modification but this was in one of the "unsearchable" French newspapers. From what I can gather the designation may have suffered from a continental interpretation, putting the major attribute at the end. The engine designation is much more likely to be 14Kdrs:-
  • 14 - no of cylinders
  • K - series number (usually refers to cylinder dimension / type)
  • d - sub-series (usually, but not exclusively, indicates LH or RH rotation)
  • r - reduction gearing
  • s - supercharged

The krsd style is repeated here, p.11 and all five of the contemporary sources quoted in the article use Krsx, so it was widespread. In contrast, Jane's 1938 has 14KFS and KFRS for the Mistral-Major. Cheers,TSRL (talk) 17:30, 25 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
