Picture?[edit]

Could somebody find a different picture of him because it does not look like him at all. Thank You! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.246.10.52 (talk) 17:35, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish?[edit]

Someone added the "Jewish Americans" category a while ago. Does anyone know if that's actually fact-based or just speculation? Vulturell 20:34, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He's not Jewish. [User: EricKitt]

He is DEFINITELY not Jewish. His entire family is Methodist. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SkittlzAnKomboz (talkcontribs) 19:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The "bulge" controversy[edit]

This is a serious matter, not a joke. The digital editing of Brandon Routh's Superman costume pants volume and the subsequent measures to reduce it are all but ignored in this article. --200.178.22.27 15:58, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because the "controversy" has no source other than a nameless "studio insider". It's about as believable as a David Manning review.--201.242.46.168 11:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Why was this even added? Do you think that people who look at Routh's Wiki page even want to know that his package was digitally reduced? --user:Chadtank, 4 December 2006
I find it funny that you find it serious. It's not worth mentioning in this article. SkittlzAnKomboz 19:49, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would. ;D Sion 09:57, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brandon, is that you? ;-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.119.76.45 (talk) 09:43, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA Passed[edit]

Congratulations! The article passed. I'm impressed with the straightforward, positive, neutral and yet not idolizing tone of this Actor article. You reference thoroughly, although I'd like to see a few print sources to bolster it. --CTSWyneken(talk) 01:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the compliments! It's another GA actor article on my belt (well, actor articles are the only ones I do:) ) Mad Jack 01:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Succession box[edit]

The box of actors playing Superman is confusing here - How has Brandon Routh succeeded Tom Welling, when Welling is still playing Superman? --cholmes75 (chit chat) 15:21, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Welling does not play Superman. He plays Clark Kent. Get it right. 24.251.20.115 19:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Nosferatu.[reply]

Simple. His debut as Superman came after Smallville was already on the air. 71.197.214.127 02:59, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Height[edit]

I'd say that Routh is actually around 6'3, he looks pretty tall. Son of Kong

IMDB lists him as 6'2.5". However, the majority of news articles have listed him as 6'3".Ealgian 21:17, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My friend told me that on the special disc release of Superman Returns Routh said that he's 6'4. Can someone verify if this is true? Son of Kong

Unless his height becomes a notable issue, as in he was hired for Role A because he's B Tall, height is fancruft, sorry. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 04:42, 12 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image moved[edit]

The image of Routh as Superman cannot be used to identify the actor per the already-in-place fair-use policy; its rewrite virtually forbids any fair-use images to identify a living, public person. Per this policy, I have moved the image to the Superman section, the only place where Wikipedia can claim fair use. RadioKirk (u|t|c) 03:39, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Norwalk Theatre of Performing Arts[edit]

I don't care what his personal web page says, there is no such thing as the Norwalk Theater of Performing Arts or whatever it's called. I know Brandon personally; he acted in high school plays and musicals. As well, I've lived in Norwalk for 22 years (ie., my entire life). We do not even have an auditorium for the high school, let alone a performing arts theatre. Therefore, I've removed that line from his page. SkittlzAnKomboz 19:46, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Muscle Issues[edit]

Hopefully for the next movie the actor will have put on 40lbs of muscle. He was a bit "skinny" in "Returns." Shouldn't be a problem in Hollywood though; if he lives in L.A., damn man, digging up a personal trainer would not be an issue. He doesn't need to look like a bodybuilder, but, his male model physique is not right for the role. He just needs to be beefier by about 40lbs.

Hayden Christensen[edit]

I just heard he is replacing Brandon Routh as Superman. Is there any truth to this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.235.132.245 (talk) 23:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The original contract he signed had a 3-picture option (based on movie profit). As far as I know, the studio has chosen to pursue the second picture with him. However, I have not spoken to anyone in his family in easily four months (his parents were visiting him in Cali over the holidays), so that could have changed. You know how fickle Hollywood can be sometimes...SkittlzAnKomboz (talk) 02:04, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great news, looking forward to see Superbastard kicked out and Darth Vader in a Superman costume, see if u can clarify —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.49.42.137 (talk) 15:00, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Contract discrepancy[edit]

The article says he has signed a contract for the next two SM films but then says WB has chosen not to renew his contract. Which is it? 75.85.165.180 (talk) 08:42, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Brandon Routh/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

As part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles' Project quality task force ("GA Sweeps"), all old good articles are being re-reviewed to ensure that they meet current good article criteria (as detailed at WP:WIAGA.) I have determined that this article needs some work to meet current criteria, outlined below:

  • The article is some 1200 words without the lead; there needs to be a second paragraph added to the lead to thoroughly summarize the article (WP:LEAD).
  • A major issue is that the article no longer meets comprehensiveness criteria and needs to be updated. There's little info about current projects, and much of it appears to be out of date.
  • There appears to be an excessive focus on the Superman role; it was one movie, and nothing else as of yet.
  • Unsourced statements include:
    • "He was cast in his first major role in 1999, in an episode of the short-lived ABC television series, Odd Man Out. In 2000, he had a four-episode role on the third season of MTV's nighttime soap opera, Undressed. Routh subsequently appeared on the WB's Gilmore Girls (in a February 2001 episode, "Concert Interupptus", playing an attendee of a Bangles concert), and earned steady work on the soap opera One Life to Live, playing Seth Anderson from May 23, 2001 until April 17, 2002."
    • "At the 2006 Spike TV Awards, Routh won the award of "Best Superhero" as Superman in Superman Returns, beating out among others, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine."
    • "After the release of Superman Returns, Routh signed on to play CIA agent John Clark in Without Remorse under the direction of John Singleton with a screenplay by Stuart Beattie. Routh would be the 3rd actor to portray the character after Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber. The film was intended for a late-2007/early-2008 release. However, Paramount Pictures recently put the film into turnaround. Routh's future participation on the project is unknown."
    • "Routh recently wrapped filming in the ensemble film Life is Hot in Cracktown and stars in the independent drama Fling (formerly titled Lie to Me) co-starring his wife Courtney Ford."
    • " The movie is based on the Italian comic series created by Tiziano Sclavi. At Comic Con 2008, it was revealed that Routh has a cameo in the Kevin Smith comedy Zack and Miri Make a Porno and will serve as a judge on Platinum Studios' 2008 Comic Book Challenge. In addition, he has a cameo where he plays himself in the Bollywood film Kambakkht Ishq."
    • "In August and September 2009, Routh screen tested for the title role of for director Marcus Nispel's re-imagining of Robert E. Howard's Conan The Barbarian stories. However, the part went to Jason Momoa".
    • "During the 2008 Presidential Election, Routh toured college campuses campaigning for Democratic Candidate Barack Obama."
  • Paragraphs by construction need at least three sentences. There are many one or two-line quasiparagraphs (especially in "Current projects") that need to be expanded, merged, or cut.

I am putting the article on hold for one week, longer if significant contributors make good progress. Keep me informed on this page. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 18:51, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As no progress has been made on the above, I am delisting. You may renominate at WP:GAN at any time, but I encourage working on the above issues. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask on my talk page. Thanks, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 15:32, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
