Name[edit]

Although reliable sources spell his surname as Casser, it seems from checking birth records (1936 first quarter, Tynemouth), and electoral registers (Liverpool, 1957-61) that in fact the correct spelling is Cassar. Given his popularity in Germany - more than in Britain, apparently - it is also a moot point whether this article should be moved to Casey Jones (British musician) (given that Casey Jones (musician) already exists). Does anyone have a view on either of those points? Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:30, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The source giving his death here has now been corrected to give his name as "Cassar". I will now make the same correction here. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:29, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While I get it that the birth records and electoral registers show a different spelling, most of the article's references that still work, show the name with an "e". It's ironic to note that Cassar has been changed in the "Deaths" reference, but Gove(r)nors is still misspelled! As regards the article name, from my perspective it should be Casey Jones (British musician) or even perhaps Casey Jones (Brian Cassar). He would be more well known by that name, as his stage name and connection to Eric Clapton. Most people would never have heard of Brian Cassar until now, I venture to suggest, including myself, but on the other hand have heard of Casey Jones. By the way, as a sidelight, the Beatles (as the Silver Beetles then) were arguably more popular in Germany in the early days, before any recorded material, through regular stints at the Star Club in Hamburg.
