Objection to proposed deletion of the Brislington F.C. page

Brislington F.C. is not an amateur club - they are semi-professional non league club playing in the Premier Division of the Western League. I find it very difficult to establish why the page should be suggested for deletion.

Unreliable source

The bulk of this article is a close paraphrase or in some cases a straight cut and paste from this document on the Toolstation Western League website, authored by JackRog, presumably Jack Rogers, the club Programme and Website Manager.

Material removed as a clear cut and paste from http://www.toolstationleague.com/brislington/history.doc and following receipt of this email from the company secretary of the league.

Ken,

The history of a club is on Wikipedia and is placed there by the club. It therefore appears that the copyright lies with the club itself.

Wikipedia is showing an infringement notice on the Brislington page that points to the fact that the content is copied from the Brislington website.

If someone has copied it from our website, then Wikipedia would be in breach of copyright.

However, what is on Wikipedia is out of date. The History on our website is fairly extensive (as supplied by the club) whereas the Wikipedia reference is minimal and out of date.

Note: the content added by an IP with this edit on 9 October 2011 is essentially identical to that added by a similar IP with this edit on 27 October 2008 and later removed by Jezhotwells as a copyvio of this document, which is no longer accessible. Most of the content of this pdf is also identical (note the mistakes: "The 1970’s saw the side …", "2005/2006 saw many changes Chairman Mike Richardson has left …", common to all three versions), but that document is dated 28 July 2014, so was not the immediate source for the copyvio here.
