Joe El-Adb[edit]

Dual nationality. The sqaud cannot display both, so what justification do you have to change his nationality to Egyptian? He has not represented either country, however, he was born in Brighton. Thus I would leave it as English. Thoughts? Eddjtalk 15:38, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

England elite squad[edit]

The current England elite squad is available at http://www.england-rugby.com/EnglandRugby/index.cfm?fuseaction=Home.Simple_Display&storyid=14459 This means that only Shaun Perry is a member of the elite squad. Please refrain from adding other players that are not part of the squad. Eddjtalk 13:34, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kit colours[edit]

The colours of the 08/09 season kit have changed quite a bit since last season, perhaps the article ought to be changed to reflect this? For some reason, Bristol Rugby haven't yet played in the 'home' colours of blue and white hoops. Currently, the hooped (replica) kit will be put on sale at the end of September 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samkinsley (talkcontribs) 08:29, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

Just as a passerby, a few coments. The obvious thing is that the article has become very unwieldy, with far too much weight placed on the last few seasons. They should be passed down to a daughter article (History of Bristol Rugby?) and summarised here. See the club articles in something like Category:FA-Class football in England articles for an idea of the general structure. The introduction needs more on the club, at the moment it's all about players who have passed through the doors; again those FA articles can give an idea of what's required. One obvious omission is any mention of the shirt "numbering" scheme, and a photo thereof. Ideally you want a pic of a lock next to a wing, to demonstrate the difference between the Bristol scheme and the Leicester scheme. Le Deluge (talk) 13:17, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Auto writes: no mention of the old County sides - notably Gloucestershire and Somerset - which mutually supported, and were supported by, the clubs in the 1960s to 1980s. This article need not have much, but a mention might be reasonable. The Memorial Ground was host to at least one County Championship Final Tie; I saw Gloucestershire humble a very good Yorkshire pack [perhaps late 1970s]. Article rating[edit]

I have down-graded this article from B to C class, as it currently fails at least three of the B-Class criteria. C679 10:51, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Official Name[edit]

I've put the official name back to Bristol Rugby Club for now. Are there actually any sources which say what its official name is? An RFU handbook perhaps? I assume they did change it to either RC or RFC and its not still Bristol Football Club? Skeene88 (talk) 17:45, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bristol RugbyBristol Bears – New correct name for team; could the redirect please be reversed? TheMightyPeanut (talk) 13:55, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:24, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The team itself is definitely referring to itself under the new name, see here, governing bodies the EPC Rugby and Premiership Rugby have referenced their new name – see here and here respectively, and media outlets have also started using the new name, eg The Telegraph, Bristol Post and Gloucestershire Live. • Support – Sources are reliable enough. JE98 (talk) 00:24, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – Agree that sources are reliable and brings in line with other pages I.e Leicester Tigers, Yorkshire Carnegie etc.
  • Support - (Reluctantly) I support the move to the banal meaningless new name with no historical basis if that is what they call themselves now. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 06:28, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
