Untitled[edit]

The paragraph in this article that reads as follows:

‘Ramsgate (The Kent Coast at its best) Pictorially Presented’ a ‘guide book’ of the 1930’s, on its section on Broadstairs describes the town as: ‘a very conservative place which, for example, has enjoyed a sequence - not revival - of nigger minstrelsy (which) is outstanding in these days. (concluding) Tradition and progress is a judicious mixture at Broadstairs.’ A.H.Simison, a photographic chemist of St. Lawrence, Ramsgate, the publisher of this photo tour of Thanet describes Broadstairs as having developed ‘always with a consistent policy of retaining those characteristics for which it has for so long been renowned.’

...is not intended to cause offence, but is an accurate record of the language of the time, slightly quaint and rustic, before political corretness was an issue.

It is included here because an encyclopedia must avoid political bias and reflect the broardest possible interpretation of any given subject.

I do not object to its removal if it is thought to be discriminatory, but uphold the opinion it is not, but informs accurately on the period discussed.Faedra — Preceding undated comment added 22:40, 14 June 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Format change[edit]

I reverted because the most recent format change made the page look untidy with gaps, and with the box straddling two sections. Was there a reason for the change? SlimVirgin 07:59, Feb 21, 2005 (UTC)

Apologies. I use the Cologne Blue skin and my version of the page looks better in that skin. Having looked at it in the original skin I see your point. S. MRSC 08:53, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

High time for unregistered editor 80.1.88.1672 to learn to edit more items at a time[edit]

Hi, can you not edit more items than one at a time, so we can all follow what has been done without having to wade through single bits and pieces? I have been trying to reach the user for some time but to no avail. The IP address changes several times a day. S/he appears blissfully unaware of policies and it hasn't been possible to explain/discuss. Pgr94 16:44, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request for page protect?[edit]

An IP editor is making substantial changes to the article with little regard to WP guidelines. I have tried numerous times to contact him/her, but the IP number keeps changing. There is a similar situation on the Thanet article. Should we request that Broadstairs be semi-protected which would prevent anonymous editing? We could cancel the protection as soon as the IP editor registers. Does anyone agree/disagree? Pgr94 13:56, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox has this: 24,903 (Broadstairs and St Peter's parish 2011)[1]
Broadstairs and St Peter's parish has its own article, so that population belongs there. Meanwhile, this article should have population for Broadstairs only. 88.114.246.209 (talk) 18:22, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
