Picture of the city[edit]

It would be nice to have an actual picture of the city in the article

River image[edit]

The river image at the centre of the current revert war is clearly Fitzroy River at Geikie Gorge which is about 400 km east of Broome. So it doesn't belong in the Broome article but could go in the Geikie Gorge article. --Zamphuor 00:29, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ugly[edit]

I didn't intentionally choose an ugly picture, Tennis expert. I choose the only picture of the town that I could find, which just happened to be ugly. Hesperian 04:40, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to believe that this article is solely about the buildings in the town; therefore, a picture of a beach in the town would be inappropriate. Why so? Perhaps you should make your edit summaries more precise and avoid the implication that you have the objective of making the town look "ugly" to readers. Thanks for the lecture about Wikipedia not being a "tourist brochure." I didn't know that. Tennis expert (talk) 05:10, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Two minutes of searching found the following pictures of Broome: (1) (2) (3) (4) (5). Tennis expert (talk) 05:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gosh, you're a cranky bugger, ain't ya? If you carefully re-read my edit summary you will discover that you have inferred from it things that were not stated. I cannot be held responsible for that. According to article town, "[A] town is a community of people...". Cars, buildings, infrastructure - these are all things that are associated with towns. Some rocks on the beach are not. Hesperian 05:24, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here is your edit summary: "replace leading pretty picture of rocks and beach with ugly picture of town - this article is about the town, after all." An edit summary that more accurately reflected your intent would avoid any inferences you apparently don't like. This would've been better: "replace leading picture of rocks and beach with picture of town - this article is about the town, after all." So simple that even a cave man could do it. By the way, don't be incivil. Whether I'm a "cranky bugger" is irrelevant. Tennis expert (talk) 06:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anybody who actually went to the town would understand that the beach and ocean is more relevant that the town itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kimberleyqueen (talkcontribs) 15:28, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Save the Kimberley campaign[edit]

I have added a section on this campaign, as I believe that it is a very significant development for both Broome and the Kimberley region.--Soulparadox (talk) 16:01, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Slavery

After slavery was abolished in the British Empire (in 1883)...

I always thought it was 1833. But nothing was happening in Broome until 1880. Are you sure the statement is significant? Valetude (talk) 09:39, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
