Parentage

I thought his father worked for the coal board rather than being a miner - or at least something administrative? The coalminer thing strikes me as a romanticisation or a legend. Humphrey20020 19:55, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Currently the article states that his father looked after pit ponies. Something completely different. If somebody has a source for an administrative function, a miner, or looking after pit ponies, please add the source.--Pie.er 06:54, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I found a source for the pit ponies. I don't know how correct it is, but it's a start. I put in the article, if somebody finds a better source for coal mining just replace it.--Pie.er 09:56, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm removing the suggestion box that the Otis Ferry article be merged into the Bryan Ferry one. Even if Otis Ferry does nothing else again, his actions in storming the House of Commons and his vociferous support of fox-hunting make him a person of current and historical significance.

Nazi stuff

'Just amazing' quote. The quote itself harmless, when read on its own, Speer did great work, its just those who paid for that work. It seems Jewish groups seem to have ownership on the nasty work the Nazi's did. I agree that the Speer part should not be controversial, but the reference to the Führerbunker is really bad in my opinion. But we are not here to put our opinion in the article. The facts are that Ferry made the remark, the remark was considered controversial by some, and Ferry apologized for the remark. Is thier any way we can get the actual quote said by Mr Ferry and how it was misquoted. Without this information the article seems to contradict itself. Deathawk 05:50, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

The actual quote said by Brian Ferry is of course hard to find, because only the ones present when the quote was said, know what the quote really was. Looked through chart hits for ferry and roxy music and no mention of jealous guy in the list.

Search in [1] for "jealous guy" and you'll see that it was a no 1 hit in february 1981 in the UK. [www.dbopm.com] gives the same result. Check wikipedia List of number-one singles from the 1980s (UK) and you'll also see it. So it definitely can be found. Maybe you just looked at the wrong place... --Pie.er 14:55, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

This user keeps putting the fansite Vivaroxymusic on top of the external links list. I warned him several times on his talk page that there is a good reason that ferry's official page and imdb are on top, and that if he thinks otherwise, he should give a reason on this talk page. Until now, he has never given a reason, but just put his fansite on top 4 times. In my opinion it is not even clear if fansites should be on the external links list, but should they be present, definitely not above official information sites. If 87.86.194.250 (or someone else) disagrees, please give a reason here. The reason has been given now (on User:87.86.194.250's talk page). And I must say that it is a good reason: The site is used by bryanferry.com a lot, which makes it authorative. (Full argument on talk page.) I am going to put the site on second place in the list, after bryanferry.com, with a note that it is not just a normal fansite. I removed the Dylanesque image from the article, because it was not really needed in this article. I added a fair use rationale for this article at the Bride stripped bare-image, because that image shows the gentleman-Ferry.

Because this article really lacks images, I sent the vivaroxymusic.com-webmaster a mail to release some low-resolution Bryan Ferry images in a free license, so they can be used in wikipedia. I will post the answer here.--Pie.er 08:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Ferry's personal life

I found the phrase about Ferry dating 'beautiful women' to be fairly subjective, vaguely sexist, and ultimately pointless. One might argue that there is some interest in the fact that some of his past girlfriends have been on the covers of his records, so I've left that bit in, but apart from that, I don't think it's appropriate to write a Wikipedia piece as if it were for a People or Playboy audience.

And, really, how is that the most pertinent factoid with which to lead off the section on his personal life? I can't be bothered to re-write it, but if whoever wrote it in the first place ever reads this, please reconsider (and re-write). Sneedy (talk) 05:12, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

His vocal delivery is somewhat different and, unless a piece obviously produced for radio, might take some getting used to for the casual listener. Separate page for Otis Ferry (Bryan Ferry's son)

I note that the Otis Ferry page has been deleted (perhaps a little while ago?), with a re-direct being created to this page. While that page had many problems (excessive level of detail about arrests which had not led to charges let alone convictions), revision had removed many of them. Otis Ferry probably merits a page of his own, he has a measure of notoriety which is now independent of being Ferry's son (although I accept that the fact of the relationship probably plays a part in it). I took the decision to redirect the Otis Ferry page here as it had become a bit of a mess, and I'm not convinced he's particularly notable by our standards. The history is still preserved though and it could be restored if there was consensus to do so. If you think it should be, I suggest you work on your own draft version of the page which is compliant with our policies, and then propose it either here or somewhere like the BLP Noticeboard. Holland Park School

BBC4 claims he was sacked from his job as a pottery teacher at a girls' school. Is this correct? If so, what could the dashing, devilish Ferry possibly have got up to in such an environment? Perhaps some clay went walkies? Somewhat too enthusiastic?

I am very familiar with Ferry's career through the decades. I was shocked to see him compared to Bowie in the lead (very different career paths), but the opening sentences all rely on opinions by crtics rather than a neutral summary of the subject's work.
