This article should reference "UK" or "Britain" somewhere in the first paragraph. I read most of the article before I realized where butter pie originated (the info box on the side does have the country reference, but I usually don't start reading an article by reading that box). Anyway, I'm sure the cities referred to in the article are well known to the locals but the rest of us could use some help. Thanks. By the way, it is a good article, containing all of the info I was looking for.

Oh wow!!! Im stunned, I am at this moment in my kitchen making butter pies! I was just waiting for the potatoes to cook and thought I would have a quick flick on the Internet. I never expected to get on this. I read the info on Butter pie and went all funny, My dad made us butter pie when we were little, over the years I have made it for my own family and friends, I have made one or two little adjustments to the recipe I put a little nutmeg in. Jack, my friends son, is always asking me to make him a pie. The funny thing is I live in Preston in a terraced house near the North End! The next best thing to home baked pie is a Masons potato pie, from School Lane in Bamber Bridge. They also have them frozen so they are perfect to have a few in the freezer at home. They cannot be beaten in my opinion.

I have had butter pie's many time from Greenhalghs (Sp?) so it isn't just confined to Preston!!

is there no butter in it then? how odd... it does taste kind of butery!

As the original author I am delighted to read comments of people who are pleased with the article. So many Wikipedia articles are controversial. AIUI the pies do contain butter although it is not the main ingredient. Also the statement that the pie doesn't exist outside of Preston and South Ribble is not entirely correct - last October I was on a course in Manchester where "butter pie" was served. The pie isn't just found in Preston, as someone else commented, they can be found in Manchester and I've had them in Liverpool also. I've altered the article accordingly. Butter pies are the best!

Please stop adding opinions like "The best butter pies can be found at Preston's Indoor Market" - that isn't what Wikipedia is for. They are good though! PMBO 20:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
