Hymn removal[edit]

Why was the poem reference removed?--Kpsi355 (talk) 02:21, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the poem reference removed a second time even with it being sourced? --MarkAu (talk) 05:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it the first time not because I questioned the existence or words of the hymn, but whether or not the title is taken from the hymn. I imagine the editor who deleted it today did so for the same reasons. THis is why: The likly origin of the name "By Schism Rent Asunder" is probably from the hymn (emphasis added.) THe words "likely" and "probably" show that we don't know for sure that this is the reference in the title. We need a source that confirms that David Weber chose the words from the hymn. Weber may have heard the phrases somewhere else, and might not even know of the hymn. Most likely he did, but we don't post conjecture on Wikipedia - we post verifiable itmes with reliable sources. That is Wikipedia policy- it's not optional, thought it is not always followed to the letter. In addition, I really don't see that we need to post a hymn that is longer than the rest of the article! Perhaps the hymn is already posted somewhere else on WIkipedia, and we can just link to it. - BillCJ (talk) 06:24, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
