CEO Wants to Edit Our Wikipedias Again with a few updated specs and some changes to text.[edit]

Hello again Ahunt!

George Bye, our CEO, took a look at our wikipedia pages and was quite "unsettled" by some of the "wordage" used in the articles. He printed out the articles and wrote in red pen the changes he would like to make. Some of them, like the updated specs on the Sun Flyer 2 and 4, have been added to www.sunflyer.com under the Specifications page to cite the source, but others are just 'him' wanting to make changes.

Can I scan the printed and edited version of our wiki pages into images here for you to look at and see if the changes he wants to make are possible? And if not, why? I've tried explaining to him that EVERY change on Wiki needs a source and he isn't really having any of it. He also wants the this page completely deleted as "it's old info and completely misleading" but I told him no-can-do.

He's new to the Wikipedia thing :)))) Beekachu (talk) 19:58, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you can try that approach and I can have a look at them and see what we can do, but it may not end up looking the way he would like. It might be easier if you just scan them and email them to me, rather than post them somewhere. You can send to me at wikieditor07.sca9z@ncf.ca
You might want to mention a couple of points to him: 1. that this is an encyclopedia, not an advertising website, so we keep historical information here. In fact most of our articles are histories of subjects, like War of 1812 or even Cessna 172. 2. This is not the company website. The company website can look like whatever he would like it too, of course, but this is a third party website. Just like AVweb, or Flying magazine might publish things about the company and its products and the company can't exercise control over what they write. It is much the same here on Wikipedia. We aim to be accurate and neutral of course, but we can only work from the cited sources available to describe the history of companies and their products. In the end, by Wikipedia guidelines, the company doesn't get to say what ends up in articles here and more than they do in any aviation magazine, in fact probably even less so, because we don't sell ads here. - Ahunt (talk) 22:47, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Note to file: Email received with notes, assessed and some sourced suggestions incorporated, while some unsourced suggested not incorporated. Collaborating with the manufacturer to improve the articles, while keeping them as neutral and factual as possible. - Ahunt (talk) 11:32, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
