Accents[edit]

There should not be an accent on the A, the Ordnance Survey and every guide book on the Scottish Munros writes the hill name without an accent so why make the change. Wheres the evidence that there should be an accent. Also why have you rated this article as a stub in your infinite wisdom. I find that laughable. There should be an accent on the name - look up any Scottish Gaelic dictionary. The English is "cairn", the Scottish Gaelic "Càrn". As I pointed out elsewhere, when people leave off the accents, it can completely alter the meaning and pronouncation of a name. Enough mutilation has already been done to the placenames of this country. I wish these hillwalkers would actually bother to learn our language, in addition to using our cleared hillsides as some form of leisure park.
By the way, I didn't deliberately rate this as a stub, I was cutting and pasting the BSH tag, which should have been left unrated. --MacRusgail (talk) 11:35, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
