Move Request[edit]

It was requested that this article be renamed but the procedure outlined at WP:RM#How to request a page move did not appear to be followed, and consensus could not be determined. Please request a move again with proper procedure if there is still a desire for the page to be moved. Thank you for your time! -- tariqabjotu 21:21, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move request fixed[edit]

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the debate was NO CONSENSUS for page move, per discussion below. I did go ahead and change the "CF" to "C.F." There are articles using quotation marks in the title - see some here, but there doesn't seem to be consensus in this case. If there are other football club articles using «» marks in the title, then there might be a much better case for renaming this page. -GTBacchus(talk) 22:28, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

CF Os BelenensesC.F. «Os Belenenses» – This is the correct form for a football club in wikipedia. The «» are the official form used by the club. (You can check in its home page) Joaopais 23:18, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose, we don't always use the exact official name for the title of the page, (though we do in the lead) and this seems like a good time not to. I can't think of any other articles that have quotation marks in the title, either the " kind or the >> kind, it would just be too distracting, IMO. Recury 00:10, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Recury. The quotations are ugly in general, and the ones proposed are extremely ugly (and not used in English AFAICT). Duja 13:36, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose As per naming conventions, it is not part of Latin alphabet. Wirbelwind 04:22, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Recury, I understand your concern but the marks are needed here. The club name is Clube de Futebol «Os Belenenses», meaning Football Club [that is named] "Those from Belém". If Manchester United were officially renamed "The Reds" they would be "The Reds" Football Club. Joaopais 23:36, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you have proven that the official name uses the quotation marks. I just disagree that we have to use the exact official name in the title of the article here. Recury 16:52, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That said, we still need to change "CF" to "C.F." Recury 19:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Os Belenenses.png[edit]

Image:Os Belenenses.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
