Broadcast area[edit]

2ONE broadcasts within Katoomba RA1 which does overlap into Western Sydney but its licensed area is Katoomba RA1 and not Sydney. It is fine to state there is some overlap (as per ACMA) within the article but not the infobox.

Programming shouldn't be added per WP:NOTGUIDE and only notable former announcers should be added. Bidgee (talk) 07:26, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agree there Bidgee, it is licenced in the Katoomba RA1 area, not Sydney RA1 (main Sydney licence) or Western Sydney RA1 (WSFM). To prove this fact, I present ACMA Licence Area Map and ACMA Licencing Information. The fact that it's transmitter is 5kw at Wentworth Falls, but spills into the Sydney region is irrelevant. As an example there, K-Rock and Bay FM in Geelong have repeaters in Werribee, but they're still considered Geelong RA1, or the fact that the Central Coast/Wollongong stations and C91.3 can be heard in parts of Sydney, but they're still their respective regions, not Sydney RA1.
As to listing the programming however, you have to draw the line somewhere. There are literally tens of thousands of pages that would need to be edited. So the question is, do you keep it all, or get rid of it all? I'm on the side of keeping it. Wally Otto (talk) 10:24, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The question about listing the programming is easy—you can't. It is expressly prohibited by WP:NOTRADIOGUIDE. "For example, an article on a radio station should not list upcoming events, current promotions, current schedules, et cetera ... " This is Wikipedia policy. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 10:31, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If that's the case then Matt, there's a lot of pages to be edited. Two notable examples I can give are WHTZ and BBC Radio 1. Even 2Day FM would be an example. Need I continue? The point is, even though it's policy, there's so many pages that it's almost a case of "Is it worth it?" Wally Otto (talk) 10:40, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you guys know what street in wentworth falls the transmitter is? wait guys, if The edge 96.1 is in north ryde they broadcast to Western Sydney & Sydney right. Australian radio network bought them. It must be a loud to broadcast to sydney. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.195.227 (talk) 10:00, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is not allowed to broadcast to Sydney. Quote from the Edge Wiki page: "Although licensed to Katoomba/Blue Mountains/Penrith, its signal, at 5 kW located at Wentworth Falls is enough to cover most of the Sydney basin subject to local interference. It can also be heard in some parts of Wollongong. The Edge was taken to court in the 1990s for excessive coverage overspill. The ABA (Now ACMA) lost."
Also with it being a Katoomba RA1 licence, they have no right to broadcast to Sydney, unless it is within the area that I've provided a map for. This therefore makes it a "regional" station, not a "metropolitan". The fact that the studio is in North Ryde means nothing. For example, Macquarie Southern Cross Media (owners of Star/Hot FM) produce most of their broadcasting from the Gold Coast, but you can hear it everywhere from Cairns to Bunbury to Hobart. (Bad example, but it makes a point) Wally Otto (talk) 11:05, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Update?[edit]

?? Edge 96.1 wikipedia page needs an Update. i would like to be apart of that, i tried fixing the Page but someone deletes all my script :(. it needs a logo added aswell. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Movefm (talkcontribs) 07:47, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was nothing with the previous versions of the page, even though I cleaned it up a while ago. But as wikipedia's statement kinda goes, anyone can edit. I guess nothing lasts forever in that respect. It depends what you want to add. Wally Otto (talk) 10:24, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

can we fix the whole page up? it needs more description, i mean the edge 96.1 is not good according like 2dayfms n WSFMS not much description n that i wanted to add the studio list and tell more stuff about the edge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.195.227 (talk) 07:07, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now, the problem there is, you're breaking WP:NOTRADIOGUIDE by providing a schedule. In addition, as "The Edge" changes a fair bit (remember Mike E and the 2006 era?) it wouldn't be worth adding it, only to be editing it the next week. Wally Otto (talk) 08:59, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for going to re-edit the page i have the edge 96.1 Old logo i can give to you so you can add to the page, if you have an email address i can send it to you so you can upload to the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.195.227 (talk) 09:34, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose merging 2KA into The Edge 96.ONE article, as the two stations are the same - 2KA converted to the FM band as 2ONE. This is already the case for 2WS and 101.7 WSFM (2UUS), as well as 2UW and KIIS 106.5 (2WFM).

no, you will lose the detail Dave Rave (talk) 05:16, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Closing old merge discussion as no consensus to merge. Removing tags. Ajpolino (talk) 05:03, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
