Changing name from Premios CEC to CEC Awards[edit]

Hello Asqueladd, why did you change the name of this page? Is Premios CEC not the way these awards are referred to in Spanish? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 00:12, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Revirvlkodlaku:! It is my understanding that they are primarily known as Medallas del CEC/Medallas CEC/Medallas del Círculo.... In any case, I've attempted to get to an English-language name for the title (extremely spotty corpus of English-language sources and with some caution notwithstanding, the most common one seems to be "CEC Awards"). In the other hand, it's not like if it is important and/or decisive but the CEC webpage calls them "Medallas CEC" (in Spanish, that is). Regards.--Asqueladd (talk) 00:19, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, I appreciate the explanation. I had assumed that since the article was previously titled "Premios CEC", that must be a colloquial name for the awards. Who knows how that came to be the article title though... Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 00:54, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Revirvlkodlaku: I did not see this. The organization actually claims in the page: "Se consolida el nombre génerico Medallas CEC para designar a los premios otorgados por el CEC, también en el 2003." The wording is not entirely clear but is it understood that from 2003 on, the consolidated (Spanish-language) name is "Medallas CEC". I get the feeling that that means that, before 2003, each award was called a premio, but there was not the same sense of a collective set of awards (or not to the same extent that after 2003, when they henceforth became collectively known as Medallas CEC.--Asqueladd (talk) 01:03, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That clarifies it then, thanks {{u|Asqueladd}]! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 04:47, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
