Cobra (British TV series) → COBRA (British TV series) – The show's title is an acronym and should be in all capital letters. The show's production web page shows that this is the correct way to spell the show's name. (COBRA is an acronym for Cabinet Office Briefing Room Assembly.) Comment. Bizarrely, COBRA is a redirect to the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985. That was a a WP:SURPRISE to me. I think we should make it into a DAB specifically for things in uppercase COBRA, i.e. split the dab at Cobra (disambiguation). Perhaps all Americans know by heart the Consolidated Ombibus Budget Reconciliation Act, but to this Englishman that is not the first thing that springs to mind. Hmm,. looking at the page history of COBRA it was stable for a long while pointing at Cobra (disambiguation)... It was stable for ten years until June where User:FlashSheridan put somewhat paradoxically in the ES, "Undo unexplained reversion of correction by 82.28.40.202; user intentionally going to all caps page is clearly not looking for lower case". This was on an R that had been pointing at the DAB for NEARLY TEN YEARS. It is absolutely ridiculous to have it pointing at the Combined Authors of Brainy Reason Act 1987 or anywhere else... I have no idea why someone would think that an American federal law would be WP:PTOPIC. I realise, technically, we are discussing the UK TV series, but it is absolutely ridiculous to have COBRA redirect to a not very interesting piece of legislature. I think I'm inclined to oppose as per something like MOS:TMSTYLE. It the title were "C.O.B.R.A." then it might be different. Even many of the article's sources use lowercase "Cobra" when referencing the series. Support move based on the actual name of the program, shown in the credits. This is an acronym of a series of proper names, like NASA and UNESCO, which is different from acronyms that are lowercase as they are built from a series of lowercase words, like Radar or Scuba. All overridden by the credits giving the final answer. Their show, their name. We do not debate if the article for Inglourious Basterds should use Bastards just because we think the person who titled the film must have failed grade school spelling. Oppose - IJBall is correct that the lower-case formulation is the one preferred by the sources and as such likely the WP:COMMONNAME. Arguments based on the upper-case formulation being the official name are not well grounded, as Wiki does not automatically use the official name (see WP:OFFICIALNAME) instead, it prefers the name most commonly used in the sourcing. PS - I was actually writing a close fo this when I decided that voting was a better idea, as the choice was either moving based on a simple head-count but bad arguments, or keeping the name the same in the face of a four-to-one majority in favour of moving (but much better reasoning). - This is incorrect, per MOS:TMRULES General point 3. Acronyms such as IBM are to be capitalized; COBRA is an acronym for Cabinet Office Briefing Room Annex and therefore should be capitalized as well. Failing that, I would argue per WP:COMMONNAME that COBRA is the common name, as is the example given of FIFA. COBRA Pilot[edit]

Do any of you realize the name "Cobra" may already be trademarked? There was an American pilot by that name that can be found on YouTube.Tnarrud (talk) 01:05, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IANAL, but I don't believe you can "trademark" out of context a word in the english language which already has meaning, and in any case the presence of a "pilot by that name" on Youtube is hardly definitive. Hi Capturts. I'm sure someone will at some point, but I'm too busy myself. Why not just add a section similar to the ones for the first two series, called "COBRA: Rebellion", cited with this and other links? That would be a start.
