Pictures?[edit]

Anybody want more pictures? I can convince my folks to take me, and I can get pictures of almost all of the exibits, and maybe put them in a photo gallery --Fireware 02:41, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check out the COSI flickr community for shots of the exhibits: http://www.flickr.com/groups/432979@N21/ - 209.248.175.82 18:26, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please add comments to the bottom of talk pages. - hmwithtalk 04:36, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a need to clutter the page with random photography from throughout the building. If any additional photos are added they should be of good quality and complement what's not currently there. There are a number of photos on COSI's official website and other places where visitors post their personal photos. Hawk9698 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Other[edit]

What, no discussions? --Aelffin 18:52, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I think that COSI is pretty cool! Someone should add that they accept school groups! Pretty awesome!!! --Fixwizard (talk) 23:22, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Camp-In Themes[edit]

What, nothing in the article about the WORLD FAMOUS COSI CAMP-IN HOT DOG? Robert K S 23:22, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We've graduated to the world-famous COSI camp-in pizza. Aelffin 03:36, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

COSI Mission Statment[edit]

Thanks for adding the links to the article... nice touch. I am a COSI Member, and my family visits the center every time a new movie and exhibit opens. May I ask who you are? On another note, I noticed "COSI's Mission" section was modified. COSI's current Mission Statement was adopted at its founding and is written into the founding documents. We should represent COSI's mission as it is. Perhaps we can include more descriptive text around this area, like header "COSI's Mission Statement" and add italic text before the mission text "...as adopted in 1964..." What are your thoughts on this? (6 November - Hawk9698)

(We should start using standard Wikipedia layout style for our discussions.) I lived in Columbus for over 35 years before moving out of state. I visited COSI every other month for years as a child (old location). As an adult I volunteered many, many hours at both locations. My daughter and I were frequent visitors at the new location. I closely followed all things COSI in the media and worked with the (now gone) Planetarium Director on a number of projects. I must confess to being sensitive to "corp-speak" and the use of "buzz-words" which is why I assumed you were a museum PR rep. I agree that the COSI mission statement should be included, and quoted verbatum. (It wasn't clear to me that that's what you had done.) In fact, I was qoing to suggest that exact thing. That's great that you were a volunteer! Everytime I visit, I'm greeted by the same few smiling volunteers at the guest services desk. Have you been to COSI recently? This last summer's exhibit was great. I'll update the mission statement as previously suggested. Hawk9698 13:58, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It may be worth noting that tagging this article as {{POV}} is 50% of this editor's contributions in the past 80 days, and their only other edit was to also claim POV on the COSI Toledo article. Combined with the fact that the NPOV dispute process was not followed ("on the article's talk page, make a new section entitled 'NPOV dispute' ... then, clearly and exactly explain which part of the article does not seem to have a NPOV"), makes it very difficult to assume good faith and see this as anything but tag-abuse vandalism. --Kralizec! I don't know who is tagging the article, but I went through and cleaned up most of the POV stuff, and removed the tag. Should be OK now.--Analogue Kid 17:01, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

COSI Columbus[edit]

Since they're no longer sister museums, and both have the same name, I think that the COSI page should be a disambigation page for both Ohio musuems, and this article should be titled COSI Columbus. COSI shouldn't redirect or go directly to either of the musuems, as it is equally likely that one would be searching for either COSI. - hmwith 12:17, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If no one objects, I may go ahead and switch it. - hmwith 17:22, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pricing[edit]

The following section is a bit misleading, and it is unreferenced. I suggest a rewrite, and I'm going to comment it out for the time being as WP:NPOV. Any objections? Aelffin 01:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shortly after the move to the riverfront, the museum experienced a shortfall of funds. With an initial construction budget of over $210 million dollars and an estimated operating cost of around $40,000 per day, the museum’s directors counted on overly-ambitious attendance figures to pay its bills. Unfortunately, the museum entry fees mushroomed after the move. With the cost of parking, general admission, lunch, and ad-ons like the planetarium (which was free at the old location) a family of four could easily spend $100 or more on a day at the museum. This priced out many of COSI’s old, loyal visitors.[citation needed] Furthermore, maintenance costs of the new facility and its exhibits were quite high.

Opening Sentence[edit]

The opening sentence makes no sense, since the museum is still around: "COSI was opened to the public on 29 March 1964 and remained there for 35 years." Rehcsif (talk) 22:28, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
