have removed 'mike grutka' from the list of notable performers - he's a local performer and clearly doesn't belong on a list of names establishing the national and historical importance of this venue. Justinkrivers 03:03, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

have also removed 'armour and sturtevant' from the list of notable performers - same reason as above 'mike grutka'. Just because someone plays at Caffe Lena doesn't mean they're integral to understanding and shaping this venue. There are a lot of other musicians who should get on THAT list that aren't in the article now. Perhaps creating an "artists that play/played caffe lena" category or stub might be more appropriate. In any case, I would like to ask the individuals editing this page to please be more conservative when adding a name to the list. It is harder to assume good faith when edits seem like adverts. Neutrality[edit]

This article looks like it was written as some sort of free promotion by the owner or operator. And could there be a worse picture? Anyone got sometihng better NOT from a camera phone?65.215.94.13 (talk) 00:26, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The picture is indeed bad, but I don't see a real neutrality problem here. The lack of information overall makes the present facts stand out a bit much, but I'm assuming they were added to show notability. There does need to be some better sources for the "oldest" claim though, since the current one isn't valid.—DMCer 07:15, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think I might have some sources on that, I'll check it out. Justinkrivers (talk) 23:15, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, quick work, you already took care of it. Thanks! Justinkrivers (talk) 23:19, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

Caffè Lena is simply the Italian for the more common French: Café. Lena Spencer's parents came from Italy, from Castelvetere sul Calore in Avellino.

Though Bob Dylan played here there are NO photographs of him performing at Caffè Lena, only relaxing...

Coordinate error[edit]

{{geodata-check}}

The following coordinate fixes are needed for Caffè Lena. The correct location is 50 miles south at 43.080735, -73.783360

Wardjk (talk) 03:22, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. It looks as though someone made a slip of the fingers on the keyboard, typing 43°48′50″N latitude when it should have been 43°4′50″N. I've changed the coordinates, not to the exact values you gave above but to the location where the Google street map shows the coffeehouse's entrance to be. Thanks for pointing out the error. Listing Performers and Proposed Structure Changes[edit]

It's been a few years since I've worked on this article, but I think it needs a little consensus and shaping. I'm proposing that we expand it into sections that include "early years" "transition" and "current operations" or something like that, to give us some structure for fleshing out its various notable eras.

This article has a history of borderline-notable performers inserting their names. I think, given the number of performers, we should be removing names of performers except for where they are significant to the history of the venue or the venue was significant to the history of the performer. Which would not include the recently added Kate McDonnell or Natalie Haas, but might include Don McLean, Utah Phillips, Bill Staines and obviously Bob Dylan. To collect performer lists, I suggest creating a category or stub for that purpose. Thoughts? Justinkrivers (talk) 19:04, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
