Unable to validate certain assertions[edit]

Some of this may be due to unfamiliar material, transliteration discrepancies, and the difficulty of using Google Books on a phone. However:

  1. I cannot find a reference for the Saadians taking Tlemcen in 1550. Based on related wiki articles, it’s plausible, but I am not finding a reference that explicitly says so
  2. Paragraph 2, according to Mercier: No citation or first name given. Google does know a French historian named Mercier who wrote about Algeria, but several of his books could plausibly be the source. He is not in the Sources section. I did find a reference for Haedo.
  3. In the lede, I suspect a transliteration problem with “Abdelaziz”. I vaguely remember running into something about this on another page, but right now I can’t find a wiki page or reference for him. similarly “Saadi Sultan, Prince Abd el Kader” who is not mentioned on the Saadi dynasty page. Web hits are all for the 19th century leader. Less important but nice to solve, if possible: I did not find the Abu Azoun river either

I will see if there is a similar article on the French wiki that can shed some light, and if so strike out any of the issues on this list that I am able to resolve Elinruby (talk) 08:42, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On #3 Morocco–Turkey relations and Kingdom of Ait Abbas do in fact mention Abdelaziz and discuss the 1550 taking of Tlemcen, so there may be references there and useful detail. Just now I need to stop. I did not find an equivalent French-language article, btw, so it does not seem to be a translation Elinruby (talk) 09:25, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

References need improvement[edit]

One of the original references, which does look reliable, is cited three times. It is behind a paywall. I had to delete another one that turned out to be self-published, which en.wikipedia does not accept. The last one is possibly legit also — French Wikipedia has an article about the publisher — but it is out of print on Amazon and the url fr.wiki has for the publisher is a dead link. All the more reason to bring in more sources, particularly given the questions about some parts of the content Elinruby (talk) 10:38, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Why saying Algerian vectory and not ottoman vectory because Algeria as a state didn't exist at the time 102.38.8.5 (talk) 18:20, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
