Cabo Verdean or Cape Verdian?[edit]

Diaspora went to a lot of countries[edit]

It seems odd that almost all the Notable people of Cabo Verdean descent listed on this page are US based. There is then a duplicate list on the Cape Verdean American page. Meanwhile equally famed people living in, say, Portugal or France, where there is a Cabo Verdean community of roughly similar size, don't appear here. So I suggest people should feel free to add people from the diaspora who ended up elsewhere. A good test of their notability is whether they already have a good entry in this English-language wikipedia. I'll make a start with some musicians. Istobe (talk) 11:11, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship to other Wikpedia page at List of Cape Verdeans[edit]

Logically people shouldn't be be on both lists. Either they are still in the islands or they have diasporated away. Fortunately there is little overlap at the moment, but I suggest people check before adding anyone to this page. They might already be at List of Cape Verdeans or perhaps that's where they truly belong. Sometimes it's not clear cut, particularly with living people. Many migrants who have built a life away from home might have plans to return there some day. This was the case with the celebrated Cabo Verdean singer Cesária Évora for example, who after an international career based primarily in France returned home to die. So she is not on this diaspora page but the List of Cape Verdeans one. Istobe (talk) 12:36, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have just changed my mind. Though logically people should not be on both lists, because they are opposites - INSIDE or OUTSIDE Cape Verde, it might help users of the encyclopedia if at least some of them are.
