58 Years Prior?![edit]

How is this possible when Doc(tor) Cottle and Bill Adama are IN the show? This would make Bill Adama and Doc Cottle approximately over 60 and over 90 respectively during BSG! (SPOILER Both are in show 1x18 from memory.END SPOILER) - Sam Timmins (talk) 17:58, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Appeared as a young child I presume? I dunno how old Adama was in BSG but Olmos, who plays him, is over 60 currently, so I don't see what the problem is there. As for Cottle - pass. I have not actually watched the series beyond the pilot. Rehevkor ✉ 20:14, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The show begins with a title card explicitly saying it takes place 58 years "before the fall". Any continuity problems that introduces are the show's problem, not Wikipedia's. ;-) SPOILER As for William Adama, see List_of_Caprica_characters#William_Adama. The William Adama of BSG is portrayed as having been born after the events of Caprica, meaning he would be in his late 50s at the beginning of that series.END SPOILER I would assume the Dr. Cottle who is referred to in Caprica is the father or some other relation of BSG's Doc Cottle. -Clconway (talk) 21:19, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the episode "Apotheosis" it is revealed that William Adama was fataly wounded and died. His father Joseph then adopts a small child and names the boy Bill, who looks to be the age of 4 or 5. (Regushee (talk) 04:45, 11 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Correct in that Joseph Adama had a second son called "William" after his first son William died (they said it was Tauron custom to name future children after any deceased siblings they had) but it wasn't stated that he was adopted, he was simply the biological son of Joseph and Evelyn who had gotten married by that time. I have to say my favorite part is where this show contradicted the other. One says cylons are thousands of years old. This show says that "we" created them 60 years ago.

It's not a contradiction. The famous phrase in Battlestar Galactica is "all of this has happened before, all of it will happen again". Humanity created a race of artificial beings called Cylons thousands of years ago on the planet Kobol. Humanity then left Kobol and migrated to the 12 Colonies, where as the Cylons (the thirteenth tribe) migrated to a far-off planet they called Earth (not our Earth). Thousands of years later, humanity on the 12 Colonies makes the same mistake and creates a race of artificial beings called Cylons. The point was that humanity was seemingly doomed to keep repeating its mistakes by "playing God" in that it creates a sentient race that will eventually turn on them, lead to war, and will itself evolve into human looking lifeforms. 88.104.22.92 (talk) 09:36, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why do they build war robots at all?[edit]

The article says: "The Twelve Colonies are at peace, 58 years before the rebooted series." AFAIK, there is no "alien" species ever mentioned in the whole BSG universe that would threat the colonies, nor is any war between the colonies or inside a colony. The initial contract in the show is for the Caprican military - don't forget, this is before the Colonies confederate. Their reasons for doing so - presumably so young Caprican men wouldn't die in fighting; whether it be against their own people, or were planning aggression against another colony, or feared another colony seeking their wealth and resources - for what reason does anybody ever build an army? --Saalstin (talk) 21:45, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Caprica (TV series) → Caprica – The undisambiguated "Caprica" is currently a disambiguation page. Removing non-existent articles IAW WP:DABRL however would leave two entrants: Caprica (TV series) and Caprica Six. I'm not terribly familiar with Battlestar Galactica, so I don't know the likelihood of people searching "Caprica" for "Caprica Six", though if it's statistically significant, a hatnote could be easily applied. Of all articles, I really only see one that should be sitting in the "Caprica" target, and a devastated & practically useless disambiguation page isn't it. — fourthords | =Λ= | 22:18, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
