Untitled[edit]

I have a GPS TrackMaker track here which says the distance from the outlying Petro-Can along the Alaska Highway to the north tip of the train bridge in Carcross is only 60KM precisely. I undid the 74KM edit as a result. Google Maps says the trip is 72.4KM from Whitehorse to Carcross, but if you zoom in on a hybrid map, you'll see that their coordinates for the Klondike highway are woefully inaccurate and often go right off into the bush half the time. I wouldn't trust Google's measurements up there at all. That's enough to keep mine firmly on the road, at the very least. :) Kothog 06:04, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Yukon government has 74 kilometres, as does my official Yukon road map. See [1]. 14 km from downtown Whitehorse to the Petrocan at Macrae is about right. So it should be 74 km. Luigizanasi 05:15, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
74 km is correct. The distance between communities is calculated from city hall or its equivalent, not from the boundaries or limits. 199.247.128.35 21:05, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Population[edit]

The intro says the 2011 population is 53 (which seems like an unlikely drop from 400+ the year before) ... but a few paragraphs later the 2011 population is said to be 400+. Which is correct? --621PWC (talk) 15:20, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The 53 was for Carcross 4 which would be a First Nations area. The 2011 census for Carcross was 289 but they have changed the boundary over time. So you get the Feds giving one figure and the Yukon Government a different figure. It turns out that the coordinates were wrong as well. It should be 60N not 61N. I think I got it fixed.
