In the film, described the Smithsonian as being of the “watershed discovery of Star of David tiles confirms the existence of Treblinka's gas chambers,” Sturdy-Colls and fellow archeologist Ivar Schute are shown as incorrectly identifying the tile brand marks from the 125-year old Dziewulski i Lange porcelain factory in Poland as “Jewish Stars of David.”

The film contains the following sequence:

“As you see, the Star of David on the bottom, which is quite remarkable,” Schute tells Colls, and then asks her, “But have you ever seen the tiles?” Colls replies “No” and then Schute goes on to say that these tiles “fit in with the idea that we are in the area of the gas chambers.” Colls then says what “immediately springs to my mind is that witnesses who were allowed in the gas chamber and the area talked about the Star of David on the outside of the gas chamber building to build up the illusion that people were going to somewhere that was safe.” [1]

Coll’s claim that these tiles were “Stars of David” was repeated by the Israeli Ynet News service, which announced that “Tiles with the Star of David stamped on them were found by an archeological team in Treblinka and confirm the existence of gas chambers in the Nazi death camp.”[2]

In reality, the symbol found on the tiles is a 123-year old brand mark of the Dziewulski i Lange porcelain factory[3] and is a symbol is known in the heraldic world as a pierced mullet star.[4]

This completely accurate report on the Smithsonian documentary is not "antisemitic," it does not quote "antisemitic blogs," is fully referenced from recognizable and serious sources, and is a factual addition to the article. The description of her research should be based primarily on what the published academic sources say, not the bumblings of the popular press. One Wikipedia article is not a reliable source for another Wikipedia article and can never be used as a reference. The fact that the tile manufacturer intended no Jewish symbolism does not rule out the possibility that the Nazis may have co-opted the symbol to deceive the murder victims. There is no need to accuse another editor of bad faith without good evidence, and there is no such evidence here. Start editing collaboratively, please, instead of in a confrontational manner. Clarification[edit]

The above quoted version (alas, with slanderous differences removed), was first inserted by 70.44.231.120 (talk · contribs · count). Originally, it included extensively quoted free blog-post signed by a blogger whose other contributions to open-source forum hosted by The New Observer consisted of a collection of unrelated anti-Jewish diatribes. When the WP:RS rant by 70.44.231.120 was restored by 67.255.108.119 (talk · contribs · count) I naturally concluded that it was the same SPA user employing dynamic IPs in order to restore his preferred version. I might have been wrong in assuming that, because 70.44.231.120 is registered in Reading, Pennsylvania, and 67.255.108.119 is registered in Owego, New York. However, there are strict policies in Wikipedia regarding WP:LIVING which have to be followed. Therefore, I am adding more citations from reliable sources in support of the current version of this bio, thanks. Poeticbent talk 17:55, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
