Merge discussion[edit]

I just created Carrier-Sekani Tribal Council (w. hyphen) without knowing this existed; the other is just a stub in a format/layout I created for other new Tribal Council articles; this one, if kept, should be rejigged to "conform" to the standard TC layout, or the other one if kept should have the material here migrated there; and one or the other should be a redirect. I'll do a google analysis to see whether the hyphenated or unhyphenated version is most common; experience on tribal council directory pages is that the hyphen is the norm, but the organization itself may prefer it without the hyphen (cf. their website I guess...).Skookum1 21:38, 20 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also please see Talk:Coast Tsimshian and Talk:Coast Tsimshian for a similar situation, although not so similar: Coast Tsimshian should be moved/retitled Tsimshian language, but right now that redirects to Tsimshian, which should be an ethno article. There is at present no Tsimshian Tribal Council, as that ceased to exist a while ago, but as a historical entity it should have an article; I've been unable to find out if there's a tribal council in that area right now; also see Gitxsan and Gitxsan Nation (or wherever they redirect to) and their talkpages. Lots to untangle/make sense of, that's for sure; also cf. Nisga'a, which should have a government article broken off it, Nisga'a Nation; Nisga'a language already exists; maybe some comments re this are already on their talkpages, been so many places with this FN stuff I can't remember which-what-is-where....Skookum1 00:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, after you read Tsimshian you'll understand that Category:Tsimshian isn't appropriate for Gitxsan articles; there needs to be a Category:Gitxsan as there's potentially lots of articles that would be transfered to it from the Tsimshian category, if they're already in it, that is; also note on the Tsimshian page the external links in the main body, which I comment about Talk:Tsimshian; I could go and make the stubs but I've been busy down in Carrier and Chilcotin country....Skookum1 00:14, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's almost like we should have a separate talkpage at the Indigenous project, or within the BC project, for First Nations articles issues....also wondering if List of First Nations governments in British Columbia shoudln't be broken up by Tribal Council, rather than listed alphabetically, with TCs in the same list as band governments....??Skookum1 00:19, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
