Cascade Neighborhood, since when????[edit]

Who here from Seattle has heard of this neighborhood name? I would consider REI flagship store to be in:

The downtown
The Denny Regrade

But I have never heard of the Cascade neighborhood and neither has my friend here who is a native of Leshi. I've lived in the CD (now "Madison at the Summit") for 10 years. A quick google for {"cascade neighborhood" Seattle} shows articles from Seattle Weekly, the Seattle Times, and the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce which use it; and a "Cascade Neighborhood Council" group as well. So, however new, there is apparently now something more or less recognized as the "Cascade neighborhood"! Also, both Downtown and the Denny Regrade are generally thought to end at Denny Way, though I believe Denny Hill did extend a few blocks north. --Lukobe 20:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orangemike, being in Seattle only ten years would explain it. Paul Allen has (largely successfully) pushed the name South Lake Union. But even 20 years ago pretty much everyone would still have called this Cascade, if they had a name for it at all (the neighborhood had been fading since the Great Depression). Once upon a time there was a Cascade School, but it's long gone. In the References section I've linked a 2001 HistoryLink article as a reference that I think would be useful for anyone who wants to expand this; also, some of the pictures on that article are clearly public domain (the Bogue plan, a pre-1923 postcard) if someone wants to upload them to the Commons. - Jmabel | Talk 17:29, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

minor confusion[edit]
