Article status[edit]

This is a spin off from Steamboats of the Columbia River, which was getting too long. Currently the article is rough, will need some polish.Mtsmallwood (talk) 06:17, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for starting the article, it has been needed for a while. The references need a bit more, though The Scientific American is fine, the other two are incomplete. Also, I think the quotations are a bit much, see Wikipedia:Quotations. Try to summarize them where possible into the text of the article, as these seem to dominate the article. But a great start and long overdue article. Aboutmovies (talk) 02:12, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
right, went overboard on quotations, didn't have time to hack into prosy stuff, but if I don't get it down someplace, it disappears for me. Also, I'm working on some images and technical data of use of locks, etc., but gonna take a while to get this all together. There's a lot of good stuff on the Corps of Engineers work on this site and many good locks photos.Mtsmallwood (talk) 06:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
quotes rewritten, look better now I think. Mtsmallwood (talk) 06:42, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
