Caption centering

I'm trying to center the caption in the lowest image, but it doesn't work. Can anyone tell me why? Vzeebjtf (talk) 13:55, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

I don't like the way centering looks in captions, and it appears to be make-work to me. What makes you think they ought to be centered? -- Ssilvers (talk) 14:52, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Just personal preference; I like balance. Vzeebjtf (talk) 16:26, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
If you're going to substitute your personal preference for someone else's that has already been selected for the article, wouldn't it be more polite to discuss it first? I notice that all of the examples given in the guideline are left justified. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions. Also, Featured Articles about theatres have captions left justified. See, e.g., Her Majesty's Theatre. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:36, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, it would be more polite, and I would have done so if I had thought anyone else cared; left justification is the default, so I didn't think of it as a selection. It hadn't occurred to me that anyone would like it that way :). I don't see any mention of centering or left justification in the guidance, and on Her Majesty's Theatre you overlooked the caption for the illustration directly under the heading "Benjamin Lumley". But left-justification is fine, if that's what you prefer.Vzeebjtf (talk) 18:44, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
True. No worries. Thanks for helping with the article. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:05, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

More information

Here's some more information about the theatre. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:27, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

External links

Doesn't the item ibdb violate WP:ELRC? Vzeebjtf (talk) 17:02, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

No, the IBDB entry for a Broadway theatre or play should generally be in the ELs, because it includes the excellent IBDB list of productions at the theatre, which is more complete than our "selected" list. If the entry is also used as a ref in the text, it should be replaced there by a more detailed reference that verifies the facts stated in the text. It would be much appreciated if you could help with that. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Whitespace

Can't we do something about all the whitespace? Vzeebjtf (talk) 17:02, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

I do not think that there is too much white space. When the article gets longer and more detailed, we will be able to move the image up into the text and put the list of productions in columns. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:05, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
Instead of worrying about technical details, why not work on expanding the article with research? There is much more to say about this theatre. For some examples of good theatre articles, see Her Majesty's Theatre, Harris Theater (Chicago) and Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:13, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Evelyn Nesbit

Evelyn Nesbit was never a member of the Florodora sextet. She was an anonymous member of the chorus and was therefore never listed as a member of the cast in the programmes for the show. I have made the correction.Fumiko73 (talk) 03:16, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
