Source of name?[edit]

Castrovalva is also a lithograph by M.C. Escher, leading me to believe that the name must have some other historical or mythical origin.

The Escher painting may do, but the title of this story is taken directly from the Escher painting, given as it deals with recursion as a theme, like much of Escher's work. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 15:40, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Third doctor's catchphrase[edit]

How is it not a catchphrase? Pertwee said "Reverse the polarity" a number of times, and said the whole line at least twice. (Which is more the Sherlock Homes ever said "elementary my dear Watson.)Algr 08:10, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think Tim's meaning is that to simply say it's a catchphrase implies that the Third Doctor said it all the time (which is not entirely accurate, since he only said the whole thing twice - reversing the polarity is more correct). The second time Pertwee said "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" (which was always assumed to be the phase - "reverse the polarity" is up there with just "elementary" which I recall Holmes did say at least once) it was in The Five Doctors rather than his own era. The three uses in the 1980s are meant to be nostalgic references, albeit based on the false supposition that Pertwee had actually said it a lot in his era (the myth is repeated as late as the 1992 book The Universal Databank, the 1993 radio play The Paradise of Death and the 1994 trading cards). From the point of view of Castrovalva it's not so important as to just how often it was said (the link to the Third Doctor's page handles that) as that it's meant to be invoking the earlier incarnation. Move to Castrovalva (Doctor Who)[edit]

There are four articles on 'Castrovalva': the village, the Escher lithograph depicting the village, the Dr. Who serial influenced by the lithograph, and the band. It seems odd that the Dr. Who serial should be treated as the primary topic, so I suggest that this is moved to Castrovalva (Doctor Who) over the redirect, with a disambiguation page at Castrovalva.
