I deleted "Valencian-Andalucian" before flamenco cause there's no such thing. Flamenco spread all over Spain while it was still a young and not totally defined musical genere. Being so, there aren't strong diferences between flamenco played in different places. There are of course schools of "cantaores" (singers) and "tocaores" (players) that are somehow linked to a region and there are also "palos flamencos" that originated in specific citys.
I want to make my point clear cause there are some common misconceptions about flamenco. Flamenco is not folklore, althought it has its roots in the Andalucian folklore. Being it's origins in Andalucia most singers display an accentuated andalucian accent. That and some nationalist policies has extended the believe that flamenco is something from Andalucia and only from Andalucia. In Catalunya, having another language, some people think flamenco is something that has come from Andalucian immigration or General Francisco Franco imposition when it has been in Catalunya long before. I think that might be the cause for the adjective "Valencian-Andalucian" as if not Catalan flamenco.
That said, flamenco has a controversial influence in Catalan Rumba. It's important to understand flamenco is a genre that has marked guitar playing in Spain. It has influenced all guitar players. That's one of the reason now a days most of spanish folklore is played with guitars and with a clear flamenco technique. Catalan Rumba's guitar has a bynari "rasgueo" (stroking) called "ventilador" that imitates the afro-cuban claves.
The singing doesn't really follow the flamenco style. It has its resemblances but it is more similar to the style of popular songs. This, althought, is holded in controversy.
The study of Rumba Catalana is not profound and is starting nowadays. So there's still a lot of controversy about what's Rumba Catalana.

Nonsense. There is no such thing as Catalan flamenco. It came to Catalonia with immigrants from Southern Spain. Flamenco is Andalusian and it spread to Catalonia with Andalusians. 95.123.207.18 (talk) 01:17, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
